Saturday Morning Cartoons: Mrs. DT’s choice

by Royce Young on January 23, 2010 at 8:00 am 11 Comments

(Good morning. Thanks for your support of Daily Thunder. Shake, shake, shake off that Memphis game.)

Today is Mrs. Daily Thunder’s birthday, so I gave her the choice of the cartoon for this lovely Saturday. And this is what she picked. She’s probably 50,000 of this video’s 52,000 views. And I must agree, it’s a quality video. I know I’m psyched for the All-Star game. Nobody markets like the NBA and little videos like this just fire you and showcase just how dang cool the NBA is. Oh, and when KD jumps up and gives the fist pump at 31 seconds, my whole body goes tingly. So happy birthday Mrs. DT. Dinner is on me tonight.

(And if you can’t get enough Mrs. DT, she’s on Twitter now making fun of me)

They're 2-4 in games where Jeff Green played 40+ minutes. :)

"Jeff Green’s been medicore all season offensively, yet his minutes are increasing. January so far has been his worst month and he’s had five 40+ minute games.

Is this a winning strategy?"

Well, the team is 6-5 in January against a tough schedule, so I'd say yeah.

James Harden's January:

10.7 / 3.1 / 1.8 on 57.9% TS in 25.5 MPG

That's a productive mark for a shooter. James Harden has passed Tyreke Evans in scoring efficiency and is behind only Stephen Curry among the rookie SG's and he's quickly closing in on him.

Jeff Green by month:

November: 13.0 / 6.2 / 1.5 on 49.7% TS in 34.4 MPG
December: 14.5 / 5.9 / 2.0 on 52.8% TS in 37.1 MPG
January: 12.8 / 6.5 / 1.4 on 47.8% TS in 38.5 MPG

Jeff Green's been medicore all season offensively, yet his minutes are increasing. January so far has been his worst month and he's had five 40+ minute games.

Is this a winning strategy?

@Justin

I think the Maynor acquisition is wearing off. That can only motivate you for so long if you continue to get the playtime. His minutes were cut last night. We'll see if he continues to play less time if he keeps up this kind of production.

I love that clip of Durant freaking out.

That was his response to this play against Washington: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dj2zP2W0Ha4

KD flipped out at half-court, and I did something similar in my living room. Our team is so cool.

After the Memphis game OKC is now 1st in the league in opponent eFG%.

We're 28th in the league now in TOV% and 22nd in eFG%.. turnovers and shooting. Russ averaging 7.7 assists and 4.0 turnovers in the last ten games.. is he regressing? Just a slump?

James Harden 44.5% from the field, 46% from 3pt range in the last 10.. really turning on the offense.
