I wasn't sure either.

Crow :
On second thought, since he was 258 at the combine, 270-275 might be alright to start a training camp. I wouldn’t bigger unless it is slowly and naturally and I think it comes with trade-offs.

I didn't realize he was 258 at the combine. My bad. Still I think that 265 would probably be a good weight for him, and that no more than 2-5 lbs a year would be best. Too much too soon is bad. He still has to show on PNR defense and retreat to guard the roller. He can't be like fat Shaq who was exposed last year or an aging Tim Duncan who was also exposed. He has to keep his athleticism and nimbleness.

I'd rather see the weight go up by 10 pounds a year than quicker. No rush.

I'll have to see Mullens but right now I don't want over 260.

Very few players should play at 275-285. Swift got the idea he should. He was wrong I think. The Sonics / Thunder were wrong I think to let him go above 260=265.

I think if he truly is 275, he is likely losing some of his athleticism. I could be wrong, but too much weight too fast is probably not a good thing.

Hopefully if he did gain it, it is all from fast twitch muscle and not swilling 40 ouncers by the pool.

Not crazy to think a guy could put on 30 lbs in a year's time. We see guys bulk up 10-15 lbs over a 5 month offseason period so 30 pounds in 12 months wouldn't be too outrageous.

A couple of thing I noticed: 1)No true small forward on the roster--unless you count Marcus Lewis, whom Draftexpress has no info. He may be a SF just based on size, not sure, but he has no chance of making the roster or any real chance of even being invited to training camp, so who will get the minutes? Weaver?

2)I somehow really doubt that Lord Byron is 275 pounds; that's just unrealistic unless he was on the roids in the summer or he grew 3 inches. I'm guessing 255. Petro and Bob Swift were both 245 as 20 year olds and I just don't see Mullens as 30 LBS heavier.
3)I don't know why Vaden is even here. His potential roster spot is taken by Daequan Cook who has a guaranteed contract.

4)as somebody mentioned, outside of Mullens, no true Center; so Ibaka is going to get some burn, and maybe DJ will get to play in the paint instead of outside taking 15 footers (which he is really good at).

5)I think the 3rd PG comes down to Shakur and Weaver.

They might be protecting their rights for low value use in a trade at some point.

Hardin was listed on the 76ers summer league roster two days ago, but a Philly suburban paper now says: " ... Oklahoma City still retains his rights, so the league won't allow Hardin to play for the Sixers."

Anyway there’ll be a way to watch these online? Sucks they’re all during working hours. (Well, 7am isn’t quite working, but still.)

maybe on atdhe.net?

I completely agree.

Thats beautiful. But we need to see Aldrich. Sorry for stating teh obvious.

@Nax
yeah mullens and ibaka are the ones im curious about, ibaka mostly to see if bulked up as reported

I would like to see Harden be the best player on the court at all times during these preseason games. Also I know Darnell Mayberry has been saying for awhile now that the Thunder have been pleased with Mullen's progress this offseason. I would love to see him be confident in his demeanor and be some sort of presence on defense.

Frootloop

@f5alcon
That's true. There won't be quite the same "is anyone really watching this?" feeling.

Honestly, that was half the fun. It felt very insider-ish.

@Frootloop
seriously. within him, Harden, and whoever else is on our squad, we're going to be a pretty tough squad...for a summer league, I guess.

well now that its on nbatv it wont be the same

@Frootloop

Even the summer league announcers don't really get excited.

Last year the announcers spent 30 minutes doing a hilarious interview with Marcin Gortat. They didn't even care a game was being played in the background. Which makes sense because I don't think anyone else cared either.

The funny (well, not to Gortat) bit was that Gortat was going to land in Dallas as a free agent (and probably starting center). He was so excited about the Dallas offer during the interview and was telling jokes and being a hoot. Then the Magic matched and his season was ruined.

I'm thinking Serge may wreck summer league. I almost feel sorry for some of the rookies that bump up against him. ALMOST *maniacal laugh*

shakur is also a better ballhandler/passer

@DizzyDai
If no more moves/trades are made then the 3rd pg will be Weaver or Shakur. I know Shakur is the better scorer, but Weaver is the better defender.

Alexfromgermany

Looking forward to that. But they make these guys play at 8AM local...man that's early to be physically active.

f5alcon

gotta make sure i remember to record the games

Patrick

I'm thinking Aldrich being unable to play is a good thing. Out of Aldrich and Mullens, Aldrich is supposedly the most NBA ready and therefore the least in need of summer league play. While I'd like to see what he can do I think maybe the extra play time for Mullens is more important.

@DizzyDai

I bet they will have him suit up for the game on the 8th also.

No Durant brothers this year!

Anyone think Shakur is a legitimate option for 3rd PG?

It looks like Serge will be playing a little center? No center listed besides mullens.

I really hope Aldrich shows up on the 9th.

@billyadams

Pretty sure they'll be on NBATV. You could set your tivo.

Also, they'll be streaming online at the Orland Magic website if you happen to have one of those jobs where that is an option.

I've never heard of Cliff Hammonds before. I thought I heard a rumor that Obi Muonelo would be on the roster. I was kinda hoping that would happen.

Oh well, that crew should be a ton of fun to watch this year.

I guess we gave up on DeVon Hardin.. :(
