UPDATE: It’s Kyle Weaver all over again. Darnell Mayberry tweets: “Contrary to reports, 2nd round pick Ryan Reid has not signed to play in Poland next season, his agent Andrew Vye says.”

Though Sam Presti raved about him and many were intrigued by the no-name second-round pick, Ryan Reid has signed to play in Poland next season. (via The Hoops Market)
No one expected Reid to make an impact this year anywhere other than maybe the D-League, so putting him away in Europe and letting him get paid is the for the best for everyone. I thought he might get a training camp invite but it looks like the next time we’ll see Reid is summer ball next season.
While at Florida State the 6-foot-8 forward had his best season as a senior as he averaged 6.8 ppg and 4.0 rpg in 22.7 minutes per contest. Still, most were stunned when he was picked late in the second round since nobody had him anywhere near their big boards. But Presti determined he was his kind of guy. Hard worker, smart player, high character guy and someone that could blossom into an impact guy.

Ben Wallace was undrafted, but quickly established himself as a tireless defender and rebounder who could lock down whomever he played in whatever minutes he was given. I didn't get the impression that Reid's defense was nearly spectacular enough to make up for everything else he lacked. He's made it this far on heart and effort, which is a tremendous thing, but he just doesn't strike me as NBA level talent.
Maybe Reid is to D what DJ White is to O. Get a single offensive move and perhaps you're on to something (a Bruce Bowen type). Wasn't Ben Wallace a late pick or undrafted (and no, I'm not saying he is or will be as good as Bruce Bowen or Ben Wallace...I'm just saying you never know).
I'm with Steve on this one.
I agree. I think that Reid will show up on the Thunder roster someday for a bit. At least a training camp invite. The dude has just got something special.
i had the same problem last night and today. Then I stopped checking that box that pops up ans the problem was solved.
... the above being Steve's comments. And Royce for whatever reason your posts show up as anonymous on my phone.. a bit strange.
I strongly agree with the above.
probably not on national tv unless they play us in later rounds, maybe online
I may be using the wrong terminology- but I know that I have been completely unable to post comments using my I Phone, which means no posting at work- and that every time I post using my home computer I have to put in my e-mail address and user name. I tried checking the box that says "always id through e-mail", or something to that effect, in the hopes that it would eliminate the additional typing- but it kicks back an error message when the box is checked. I sincerely appreciate your tireless efforts to update this site, but for me this experiment has resulted in a lot of frustration for no discernable benefit.
Just discovered that Tibor Pliess is on the German National team. Does anybody know if/when we will be able to see him in action this summer?
Can't post using my I-Phone with the new system. Very frustrating. Like some earlier commenter said- the log on requirement for the new system is going to reduce the number of posts over all. Is there any way that this coulde be put to a vote of the users?
I really expected Reid to spend some time in the D-League next year. We'll see.
This new format is a pain to use at work.
I would love to see him come back as a Reggie Evans/enforcer/Danny Fortson role in two years. Man is yolked!

I don't know if Reid will ever make it to an NBA roster, but one thing is for sure, in Europe he will definitely have ample opportunity to defend the pick and roll, and that is something he is already pretty good at.
I dont know why I pictured him as a white guy, but I did.
Stash him away, definitely no room for him right now on the roster.
Farewell, Mr. Reid. See you later... actually, I kind of doubt that.
