Saturday Morning Cartoons: Pardon the Kevin Durant

by Royce Young on October 30, 2010 at 11:00 am 31 Comments

(Howdy fans of a 2-0 team. Thank you for your support of Daily Thunder. Don’t eat any candy with razors in it.)

Michael Wilbon interviewed Kevin Durant and it was aired before the opener Wednesday. They talk about KD’s summer, his love of OKC and how he’s dealing with the hype. It’s a pretty enjoyable interview, save for the fact that I love Durant’s shirt and totally wish I had thought of that.

He made a couple million. He’s much richer than most of us. Then again he could have blew it all on tattoos.

Last I heard most of that money is gone.

I know one thing. If Durant ever does leave, we won't have any reason to treat him the way Cleveland is treating LBJ. No way he yanks out our hearts on national television like that.

I might be wrong but from what I know I doubt Robert Swift is 'rich'.

Tokyo is a great place to be young and rich.

And in other news, if interested, Robert Swift had 15 pts, 9 rebounds for the Tokyo Apaches under Bob Hill a few days ago. He says he is healthy and wants to have fun and try to win that league championship.

Good news.

@Casey
It's a oldish school hippity hoppity slang word meaning "cool", more or less. So, the shirt is both an homage to hip hop culture and a statement that OKC has a claim on it. A claim that might not be taken seriously by outsiders except that the guy wearing it is the one and only Kevin Durant. I hate hip hop, but when I saw him wearing that shirt, I smiled.

So one thing about Green: He's actually pretty crafty when he posts up and that hook is pretty reliable. That lefty hook yesterday was great. Wonder if we should just turn him into a post player and stop using him on the perimeter. Play him like a more traditional PF.

KD is a special player. Hope he won`t pull a Lebron

If he does, he does. Enjoy him while he is here. If he stays, all the better. If he goes someday, well it was a blast while he was here. That was Cleveland's problem; they felt entitled to LaBron and didn't appreciate what they were witnessing when he was there.

Parker's still pretty young, but I feel like he's the type of player who's skill set will not age well at all. When he declines, it's gonna be at the speed of gravity. That contract's pretty high risk/high reward. Great deal if he can keep producing.

@justin

what are the odds of that though? in the offseason, SA was acting like they were prepared to go with Hill over Parker, and now they're committing 4 years to him?

justin :Great interview.
Tony Parker extended with the Spurs today.

4 years, $50 million for Parker. Good price if he stays healthy.
