Saturday Morning Cartoons: Russ, como se dice

by Royce Young on January 22, 2011 at 9:09 am 13 Comments

(Good day Thunders. Thank you for your support of Daily Thunder. Jump around.)

Here is a video of Russell Westbrook trying to say some kind of promo in Spanish. It’s slightly humorous. Not as good as his new commercial, but still, decent. In other news, what was the official verdict on his hair? Is this something we would like to see during the actual NBA season? I’m torn.

@f5alcon
But, he does decide what factors are in, or are important in, the formula.

@4razr
he worries about their psyche? are they babies? We lacked toughness before now other teams can just flat out make fun of us.

Read both articles about Brooks in the Oklahoman, from today and Thursday: http://newsok.com/sports/thunder
and the article about Spoelstra (oops--I always thought it was Spolestra)

They are pretty much just for conversation but take the positive from them. Hollinger rankings say 1 in 20 chance the Thunder make the NBA Finals.

To continue the coaching discussion, take a look at the interview with Erik Spolestra on NBA.com http://www.nba.com/2011/news/features/john_schuhmann/01/22/spoelstra-qa/index.html?ls=iref:nbahpt1
Really interesting to me how he ties together offense and defense, strategy and the X's & O's with the use of statistics. He's able to describe how he uses stats to see trends that leads to strategies that shape his coaching of individual players. He has players who are capable of implementing what he wants, but imagine if Russ and KD and the rest of the team were getting this level of strategic and individual guidance. It would give them more of a map of how to improve, which I think the team desperately needs. This is what we are lamenting with Brooks more than anything else. I'd love to hear from Brooks (and Presti) this level of detail.... Anything even approaching this level of detail! Enough with the cliches and generalities. Please discuss...

I am SOOOOOO tired of john hollinger's "power rankings"... The 20-23 grizz are ahead of us, and the heat and magic are ahead of the celtics. Who cares about records.

@Thunder247
basically he green lighted green to jack up 3s all game with no repercussions

I am not saying I want a change at head coach, but he obviously needs some serious X's & O's assistants on both O & D. Also if he is keeping the starters the same because he is winning, I think I am ready to lose 5-7 games in a row. It would kill us in the standings and we would be around the 8th seed but in the end, if we get Harden, Serge and Collison to start, is it worth it when the playoffs come around and we don't start every game in a 10-0 hole?

I just read the NewOk articles about Brooks. I am so sad.... I think he said excatly what most of us were worried he was thinking. Just because we are winning games does not mean that they are winning because of the starting line-up. I beleive that they are winning in spite of the starting line-up. Also the other article talks about that Brooks doesn't really talk about X's & O's and most of the time talks about effort and playing well. Well Crap, that explains the bad O throughout his time and it explains the bad D since Ron Adams left. I mean everyone keeps hoping that Brooks improves, but if he is not even focused on the technical aspects of the game then what is he going to improve on? Is is going to become a better cheerleader?????

Slightly humorous indeed...and I am not a fan of the hair. My 2 cents.
