TGR #36: Premature confetti with Chris Silva

by Thunderground Radio on January 23, 2011 at 2:47 pm 21 Comments

What a SHOT!!!! After celebrating the big win, Brad and Joel debate the good, bad, and ugly from the win over the Kicks.

Then it’s story time with Chris Silva. Silva takes us through the back stories of some Thunder players.

The Thundie award winners this week are pretty controversial and may spark some heated debates.

Here’s another thought. I feel the general consensus about our bigs (Krstic, Aldrich, Pleiss, Mullens) is that they’ll be decent/good backup centers/role players. So if we somehow land a legit starting center which would you keep as the backup?

justin :Krstic would be a great backup, I wouldn’t mind him back with the team at a reasonable $$$.

I wouldn't mind him as a back up either, but I think if he gets another contract he'll keep the starting postition until someone takes it from him. Unless Presti can find a cheap big somewhere. And we all know that's not going to happen.

@justin
Yeah... but it also says he wants to WIN. If he just wants a better, warmer city than Denver, there are lots of places he could land.

Something tells me if Miami is on Nene's 'list' then OKC probably isn't.

And I don't think we should give up Nick if we can help it. We need him to help run the defense.

If I were Nene, OKC would have to be on my list. Green and Harden would both be up for grabs IMO. It is far easier to replace a good SG than it is to find a good big man.

I think the only players off limits are Russ, Kevin and Serge.

andrew :
Afflalo-Nene for Harden-Peterson-Green-first rounder. Makes sense for both sides, assuming Nene commits long term.

I don't think Denver would do this. Afflalo-Nene has more value.

I'm starting to think that Krstic will get another contract at the end of the season. Presti always seems to prefer homegrown talent or undervalued players. The lone exception was Chandler. I have a feeling we won't see a similar move before next season. Hope I'm wrong.

I’m not sure I would give up Harden or Ibaka for an unextended Nene.

Yeah, I guess I'm assuming we can get an extension if we're on his list.

I would give up Harden for Nene if we were sure that he would at least pick up his player option for next year..

if we can get nene without losing russ, kd, ibaka, or harden then i think we have to pull the trigger. Also with a promise that he extends his contract with us

I find it weird that he'd want to go to Miami. How on earth are they supposed to pay him with 3 huge contracts already in place?

@shiki
If we're on his list then we've got to do whatever it takes to make it happen short of giving up Westbrook or Durant. Nene would make us beastly.

I hope thunder is on Nene's list

I don't see how KD doesn't win the Thundie for MVP because of his shot selection, but Russ almost never takes a good shot, even though he scores a lot. So many games Russ almost single handedly gave the opponent the win, with his HERO mode. Talk about bad shots. . .

Some have defended by saying Collison was supposed to set a screen for a drive and mid range jumper, but he didn't set a good screen so KD had to settle for the 3

LOL. Of course it was a bad shot to end the game. Durant was defended closely by Gallo on a fade away three.
