Reports: Krstic and Green to Boston for Perkins and Robinson

by Royce Young on February 24, 2011 at 2:06 pm 37 Comments

Multiple outlets are reporting that the Thunder will trade Jeff Green and Nenad Krstic to Boston for Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson. Other pieces could also be involved.

Obviously more to come but here’s my initial analysis: Holy crap.

The Thunder will be a NOW team, not later on or couple years later team... :)

No wonder I was able to so productive today at work... You guys were all so excited and crashed the site so I couldn't get on here... :P
It definately will help strength the team inside.
Now, Ibaka probably no need to be a back up and should move to the starting PF.
Robinson should be pretty good back up PG, the only thing is sometime he go overboard but still decent and better than Mo Peterson just sit on the bench doing nothing.
Perkins for sure will help the interior defense to another level. Now, there other teams' big won't able to just push our bigs around.
If Perkins get healthy and stay health... Wow...

justin :YES! I don’t even like Kendrick Perkins, I’m elated that Jeff Green is gone and I don’t have to worry about Sam Presti re-signing him.

A lot of us have been imagining something like this . . . but had given it up as just useless speculation.

Got to admit now, that Presti did SOMETHING (even if it was in his own time) . . .

We are going to have to be more flexible with minutes. With the loss of our offensive guys in Green and Nenad. Brooks seems to be a stickler of lineups

i saw a post on espn's daily dime live saying that the trade will also make harden available to start since we need more offense on the floor with the starting unit. comments on that??

Don't like throwing the Clippers pick in as well. At least it's protected, but the 2012 draft should be exponentially better than this year's version.

Robinson is a handy bench player. Not bad as a 12th man.

@PNT
we can still buy him out, the amount would just have to compensate for next year (and be prorated against our salary cap. Nate isn't old, and some team might like him. He might accept half of what he'll make (about 5 million from now until the end of next season) in order to get another long term contract right away. If he isn't playing (and he won't be), he'll have no suitors come 2012. Now might be the best time for him to try cashing in again.

Apparently we also gave the Clippers pick as part of the trade.

I love that we crashed DT...Tremendous trade for the Thunder. We can win this right now...the whole thing. And we didn't really give anything up.

The Celtics players have to be pissed...

I like Harden as the playmaker for the second unit whether he is playing the 2 or 3. thats why i placed cook starting at the two.

I think that starting lineup will spread the floor out and not have too many playmakers on the floor at once... (RW, JH, KD)

No buyout for Nate. He has another year on his deal.

This is huge. Watching Green play last night, after he came back in after Ibaka was changing shots left and right, got me so worked up. I was dreaming of him traded today, with no thoughts that it would actually happen! Robinson is a great locker room guy, let him and cook duke it out for minutes! And Nazr! Two enforcers for this soft team in one day. Imagine Mcdyess trying that with Perkins down his throat.

I don't think you like anyone!

@Blake B
I don't see Robinson playing much. In fact, I could see the team buying him out and giving him a chance to play for someone else. Right now it's the starting lineup that will see a hit, as Perk certainly isn't going to score like Green or Krstic. Now would be a good time to put Harden in the starting lineup. Bench scoring is also overrated. If our starting lineup wasn't so bad (and it shouldn't be now), our bench wouldn't have to carry us like it has been. Now we should treat the bench like Chicago's bench - get them bought in and focused on contesting every shot there is.

Solid trade to get Perkins, but I don't get where Robinson is going to get minutes with Maynor and Harden already established and Cook playing well lately.

Bench scoring takes a hit now that Ibaka moves into the starting role (with Harden presumably being a consistent starter sometime in the near future), and I can definitely see OKC using their first rounder on a scoring PF. Markieff Morris or JaJuan Johnson perhaps? Both of the Morri have extremely similar games to Jeff Green so that could be a great replacement.

If Perkins is fully recovered from his knee injury (which he will be or Presti will get the trade rescinded like he did with Tyson Chandler), I am ecstatic and 200% on the Presti bandwagon!

So excited for this trade!

Slight concern about how Perkins will recover from his knee injury though.

Hopefully this Jeff Green trade doesnt bite us in the ass. Hes going to a good team and we are getting a good defensive big. Win for both. I hope Perkins gets and stays healthy.

Between this and the Mohammed trade we actually have the bigs to bang with the Lakers. Awesome.

New rotation?
Westbrook 35/Maynor 13
Harden 30/Thabo 18
KD 38/Thabo 10
Ibaka 28/Collison 20
Perkins 28/Mohammed 10/Aldrich 10

maybe we'll play Nate at the SG position and have 2 PGs on the court at the same time? This is just for Nate's shooting ability.
