(Video possibly NSFW due to a little language)
I’ve always been a bit torn on the video of Mo Cheeks helping the little girl finish the national anthem. On one hand, it shows what a kind heart he has to step in and assist a girl drowning in the anthem, but on the other, it’s kind of become this thing that’s he’s known for.
Most people under 30 don’t really think of Cheeks as an all-time great point guard, but instead, That Guy That Helped The Girl. Type in “Mo Cheeks” on Google or YouTube. The top autofinish is the national anthem video as well as the first result. For shame.
But last night on Tosh.O, the girl, Natalie Gilbert, was given her shot at a web redemption. She sang at an Anaheim Ducks game and she nailed it. But I couldn’t help but wonder: Why not Oklahoma City? Wouldn’t that have been even better?
What a cool little thing that would be to have Gilbert sing the anthem again with Mo Cheeks behind her. Make it happen Thunder. It would be neat.

Winner of tonight's MEM@POR game gets the 6 seed. Loser could fall to 8th behind NO. I'm not so sure I want the Blazers or the Grizz in round 1. I'm thinking more and more that we should rest the starters tomorrow night.
justin :I’d rather play Denver than Portland.
Agreed completely. The Trailblazers have more talent, and they have a tough home court advantage. And yes, I'd rather play the Spurs in the 2nd round.
AC :Someone explain to me why Kobe deserves more MVP votes than KD. It’s just wrong.
I've wondered the same thing over and over again. KD's numbers are better across the board, Kobe has a (supposedly) better supporting cast, and their teams' records are virtually identical. Makes no sense.
justin :
If the Lakers win tonight I’d rest the starters tomorrow.
+1
Someone explain to me why Kobe deserves more MVP votes than KD. It's just wrong.
@justin
And likely San Antonio than the Lakers...
in the funniest injuries news ever, steve blake is out indefinitely due to chicken pox. Barnes is a GTD
I'd rather play Denver than Portland.
@justin
dont want to hope to tie dallas?
If the Lakers win tonight I'd rest the starters tomorrow.
Daniel :@f5alcon
Why don’t you have a seat over there….
lol, it wasnt me it was ben, i swear, i checked her ID
I think KD would make that Dallas team better than it is with Dirk.
Anyone with Synergy have Russ and KD's PPP on postups?
I still remember those weeknight 9:30 start times last year against the lakers. The next day was not a very productive one for me.
@JJJ
I've heard a lot of people say that our game is likely to be Saturday, but I agree that either Saturday night or Sunday night would be likely slots for us.
ABC should have two games and will pick Boston/NY Game 1 for sure. If they also pick the Lakers, then there's a very good chance we'll be the last game on Sat (ESPN) or Sun (TNT). Lakers are the only West Coast home team, and whoever plays Port or Den will play their games late for maximal viewership
@justin
I really hate Dirk, but that probably comes from living with the most annoying Mavs fans ever for a couple years, he seems like a nice enough guy.
The 1st round games last year consisted of games that started at 2pm, 4:30pm, 7pm, and 9:30pm on both Saturday and Sunday.
Grolgar :
justin :It’s between KD and Dirk. I dunno. I’d be fine with either one.
You shouldn’t. Aren’t you a Thunder fan? You don’t have to be objective on everything. In fact, biased subjectivity is the whole point of actually rooting for a team.
So, while Dirk may be equally deserving, I’ll be angry as heck if KD isn’t first team!
I like Dirk a lot and wouldn't be disappointed if Dirk got All NBA First Team over Durant. I'd argue for Durant, though, because I am a fan of him and the Thunder.
@kfmsooner
Right on, thanks for looking those up for me. I guess it wouldn't be completely uncommon then. But still rare. And I'd imagine even moreso when considering how successful KD's team has been. (If we finish above the Mavs in the standings, could that be the deciding factor?)
Here is the schedule from last year: http://www.nba.com/2010/playoffs/2010/04/15/schedule/index.html
The games were actually pretty spread out. It's funny to think that Boston-Miami was a 1st round match up last year...
@kfmsooner
So, there will be 2 games starting at 6 and 2 starting at 9pm on Saturday? Something like that...
@Grolgar
Seems like there was some overlap last year, but not much.
@kfmsooner
This wasn't with the 55 wins thing...response to 'scoring champ not 1st team All-NBA'
@kfmsooner
I'd rank them in this order:
1. Boston/NYK
2. LA/Port
3. Miami/Philly
4. OKC/Den
5. Dal/Mem
6. Orl/Atl
7. SAS/NOH
8. Chi/Ind
I know the first games are Saturday and Sunday, but are they spread out throughout the day or do they overlap? I have plans for Saturday (rumor is that we'll be on Saturday) that I might need to cancel depending on our start time.

@kfmsooner
That was quick! You guys are good! I love this place.
To take it a step further, I wonder when the last time a scoring champ from a team with 55 wins didn't make the first team?
justin :It’s between KD and Dirk. I dunno. I’d be fine with either one.

Easily Boston-New York. I'd say our series would be tied for the #2 most desirable with LA-Portland and maybe Miami-Philly (just because it's Miami).
@Daniel
Like Justin said, it's definitely between Dirk and KD. I'm hoping our momentum and the Mavs' slide will help KD out. That, and winning the scoring title. When's the last time a scoring champ didn't make the first time All NBA Team? Not a rhetorical question, I'm really curious.
@kfmsooner
I concur.
What mathcups will get the best time slots to start the playoffs?
1. Miami/Philly
2. LA/Port
3. Boston/NYK
4. OKC/Den
5. Chi/Ind
6. Dal/Mem
7. SAS/NOH
8. Orl/Atl

That was a solid rendition. Definitely a redemption. However (and I'm being "That Guy"), I really hate it when people sing the high note on "free". That note is in the instrumental version as a trumpet note and is not meant to be sung. Sorry. Great voice though.
@kfmsooner
I'm still holding out hope that Durant gets 1st team All NBA.
@justin
He also has Manu Ginobili as MVP. lol.
The True Hoop Network's award winners are better, IMO. Presti 3rd in GM voting, KD 2nd team all-NBA, RW 3rd. No Thabo on all defense at all...
@f5alcon
Why don't you have a seat over there....
@justin
...
ESPN has awards picks up and Dr. Jack Ramsey took Keith Bogans as DPOY.
LMFAO :D

Hold up, Chris Hansen just walked in. I’ll get back to you in a second.
hahaha

@Ben
jailbait?
@TempBoy Brandon
Haha, you're welcome.
Ben :And she’s turned into quite the looker, too. Damn.
Haha! I literally just logged in for the sole purpose of writing, "Waiting for the obligatory 'she's hot now' comment...". Thank you, Ben, for not letting me down. ;)
And she's turned into quite the looker, too. Damn.
That was about as good a rendition as I've heard.
And the original Mo Cheeks video is still amazing.
If you don't watch Tosh.0, you're missing out. One of the funniest shows on TV.
