Good Saturday. Thank you for your support of Daily Thunder. Back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back…
Here’s who the 1999 McDonald’s All-American dunk contest featured: Carlos Boozer, Jay Williams, Jonathan Bender, Damien Wilkins, Donnell Harvey and Nick Collison. Yes, Nick Collison, the guy whose only dunk is the straight-up-and-down-don’t-pull-on-the-rim move. What does Collison have in store for us? How about a cartwheel dunk? Whitest. Dunk. Ever.

According to Synergy we are 3rd in the NBA in post offensive efficiency, but it represents only just over 6% of our attempts. Kevin Durant is at 1.08 PPP in the post which is good. Westbrook and Perkins are both in the .77-.78 PPP area which is not good but not as horrific as it was before last game.
In fact, we're actually Top 10 in every play type by efficiency except Pick and Roll where we are 26th at only .76 PPP. This means according to Synergy we've been about as well off running a Perkins iso in the post as we are on the average PnR. This is largely due to Russell Westbrook, who is at .48 PPP (!!!!) on PnR possessions this season which is beyond terrible. James Harden is at 1.06 PPP by comparison, so he's been more than twice as efficient than Westbrook in PnR.
Eric Maynor is even worse, at .31 PPP on PnR.
So what's going on with PnR? Why are we so bad at it? Coaching? Bad screens?
@[censored] I've generally thought that we're no good at screens. Collison and Perkins do a decent job at it, but everyone else is terrible from what I can tell.
@[censored] Which I guess makes it unsurprising that Nick seems to be able to run the PnR pretty well.
@JBDW Nick and Perkins have been involved in 10 PnR's as roll men (where they attempt a shot) and have done very well. Perkins scored on all three of his, and Nick's bee very good. We don't go to that very often, I suspect because Russ generally prefers to shoot off the screens and doesn't run the PnR well.
to those concerned with cole aldrich's lack of development: clearly he is being groomed to become the next nick collison.
@jackaldrich uhhh hes going to be a nazr replacement, not collison
@yunghawg@jackaldrich How about a Nazr Replacement who plays like a 6' 11" collison? I'd like that
@JimboSlice@yunghawg No cartwheels for Cole though
@JimboSlice@yunghawg Oh no yeah in terms of age and all that, he will replace Nazr in the rotation. But look at the careers of Nick and Cole so far:
High School:
Nick- All American
Cole- All American
College:
Nick- Stud at Kansas
Cole- Stud at Kansas
Draft:
Nick- Iffy lottery pick
Cole- iffy lottery pick
NBA:
Nick- +/- God
Cole- One can only hope!
;)
I remember this dunk, I was like 18 and saw this and I thought it was creative for a white guy lol. Still never had crazy hops though but great try
michael collison, nick's younger brother, is averaging 8 pts, 5 rebs in 20some minutes at their dad's small college alma mater. a pretty good blocker. taller than nick i think but lighter. doubt he makes the nba but they might let him come to summer league or training camp. i'd think that would be a nice gesture like what they did for durant's brother.
@Crow
That really would be a cool gesture. Obviously, if he's only putting up modest numbers at a small college, he's not gonna make it, but it'd be cool to have him in camp.
Haha! Great find, Royce. He looks like a baby!
@TempBoy Brandon did u ever get an answer to the russ question?
@RRRWHOAAAA
No, I didn't. I decided to delete my post about it because I didn't want to start any sort of speculation or anything. But if you look at Russ's facebook, the girl posted a bunch of times recently, just saying she misses him, he was the only guy that was good to her, etc, and she's obviously legit because he "like"s all her comments. Obviously an ex of his and they must still care for each other.
"Whitest dunk ever" might be the understatement of 2012 so far.
Can't believe he didn't automatically win it with the cartwheel.
Maybe he should have dunked over a Kia or a Big Mac or something. . . .
whitest dunk ever. gah they are all so young.
