The MVP is already been decided with D Rose winning it with the Bulls. I don't see how KD can win the MVP vs Rose. Looks like another 2nd place finish for KD.

It's amazing to me that we're 11-2, number 1 in the West and we talk about...... wait for it..... BJ Mullens?!?*#*$%(^

What? Why, when there are so many more interesting things to discuss!

Mullens is unlike Krstic in that he's got no idea how to position himself defensively . Krstic had no hops which hurt him defensively, but he was good at positioning himself, Mullens is still lost defensively.

Interestingly Michael Jordan decided Byron Mullens would start:

"Jordan had better, because it’s of his own doing. He and his aides want Byron Mullens to start. But otherwise, they’re allowing Silas to determine who plays and who sits."

Byron wanted to play real minutes and he was not going to get those minutes with the Thunder.

He didn't listen to the coaches, didn't work hard on defense, rebounding or post game and show real improvement. He didn't fill the role the Thunder had in mind for him and roster space limited in the NBA.

As far as the Mullens debate, I do think giving him up for a 2nd round pick in order to sign Lazar may have been a mistake... However, the real mistake was brooks not letting him ever get any minutes. Remember how hard it was for Serge to get minutes

@RRRWHOAAAA We traded him to for the space for ryan reid, so we just had to cut nate, lazar took vaden's spot. mullens is better than Ryan reid, but not defensively. Mullens would not have gotten 11 shots a game here, for him it is better to be on the bobcats, for us, we were not going to play him anyway.

@f5alcon@RRRWHOAAAA The Thunder have what? 5,6,7,8 guys better than BJ Mullens. The fact that he gets so much playing time is a testament to how strong the Thunder is, and also how weak the Bobcats are.

@RRRWHOAAAA Brooks has a strange loyalty to HIS guys. You ever notice the really good coaches are the ones who can recognize a diamond in the rough? Phil Jackson got quality minutes out of Shannon Brown. Greg Popovich gets good production from Gary Neal. If Brooks were the coach of those teams I'm betting those guys would have never got on the floor.

@Old Man Game@RRRWHOAAAA Aren't Ibaka and Cook the diamonds which Brooks recognized?

f5alcon

@shiki well he didnt start ibaka over green until green was traded even though that is what should have been changed much earlier.

@f5alcon Cook had a disappoint season in Heats and a very bad beginning last season in Thunders. But he earned his minutes again.

Ibaka played in NBDL at first, then played in garbage time in NBA,finally he became our backup PF.

They were not drafted by Brooks, but Brooks found their value and gave them minutes to play.

f5alcon

@shiki not really, ibaka had already been drafted when brooks became coach and cook was brought in as a 3 point specialist.

  1. Thunder Player Power Rankings: Westbrook climbs to the top | Daily Thunder.com says:

[...] The Thunderground Radio crew talked about it on this week’s podcast, but KD’s having a terrific season, the Thunder are the league’s best team right now (they are) and yet Durant really isn’t having his name tossed around much in the way-too-early MVP talk. Yeah, he’s not scoring 40 a night or even leading the league in scoring. But he might be playing as good as he ever has. He’s letting the game flow to him wonderfully, he’s rebounding, creating and scoring at an incredibly efficient clip. He’s fourth in the league in points per possession, has a PER of 27.22 (fourth) and is playing with that look of a player that is routinely the best player on the floor every night. He’s dominating games without dominating the ball. [...]
