Time: 7:00 CT

Offensive Rating: Thunder – 108.2 (1st), Nets–103.7 (11th)

View from the enemy: Nets Are Scorching

A horrific loss to the lowly Wizards, a couple days to stew on it and then a game against a bad New Jersey team? Yeah, I don’t see any reason the Thunder shouldn’t be ready for this one.

New Jersey coming in: The Nets are well rested too having played Wednesday, winning against Golden State.

Three Big Things

1. The newly paid Russell Westbrook. I don’t think anything changes for Westbrook now that he’s been paid, but still, this is the first game for him since signing a big extension with the Thunder. Maybe he’s a tad more comfortable and confident on the floor knowing he’s a max player that will be wearing Thunder colors for the next five-plus years.

2. Westbrook v. Williams. A premier point guard matchup and definitely the most critical of the game. Deron Williams has not played all that well this season, but he’s one of the very best at his craft and Westbrook needs to match him well.

3. Rebounding. It’s becoming more and more of an issue for the Thunder and though the Nets aren’t a great rebounding team, they are in the top 10 of the league averaging 12 offensive boards a game. Kris Humphries can be relentless on the glass so the Thunder bigs will need to be keyed in.

Tip at 6:00 CT. Go Rebound (double-meaning, you guys).

My nephew was watching the game with me since his mother is out of town, and hearing a 4-year-old say "Iblocka!" to every block is fun. And he's always liked Harden's beard.

Didn't get to pay attention much, but seemed like blocking out was much better early on and kind of petered out (like everything did, Nets let you get away with that).

KD's rebounding was nice, but 0-6 frrom 3 and 5 turnovers. Let's reel that ut,

@Jooseppi I personally thought most of Durant's 3's were good shots in the flow that he hits a good percentage on usually. Just wasn't falling tonight.

From what ive seen so far this year, improvements have been russ has been more under control and initial defense seems better. rebounding and settling for jumpers continue to be an issue though.

Good enough. Whats with all the downers around here? Yes, i would have loved to blow them out by 30 but sometimes you take a clear win and move on.

@Old Man Game our rebounding is still terrible and perkins finishing around the rim is beyond pathetic.

Perkins is terrible dude isnt a starting center right now.

Why is nobody in OKC (except Nick) drawing any charges? Brooks should... oh wait

@RRRWHOAAAA I am curious what happened in that game...in a double overtime game they only played 7 players?? I thought the big danger of the Nuggets was how deep they were.

HookemKD

What an ugly beat down. The difference between the Thunder and Heat when they are playing well and the rest of the league is quite astonishing. Especially the West, OKC doesn't deal with Atlanta Philly or Chicago.

SammyThunderer
SammyThunderer 5pts

@HookemKD Let's not get ahead of ourselves... we just scored 84 points on the worst defense in the league.

HookemKD
HookemKD 5pts

@SammyThunderer Yes, but was there ever any point in that game where you thought the Thunder losing was a possibility? And we didn't play well tonight, I'm saying when we do play well it's usually ugly.

I'm not sure which is more tiring: OKC's seemingly never-ending flow of ugly games, or listening to Brian Davis for 2.5 hours

@TwisTz@courtsense Walt Frazier is the most entertaining, but for actual analysis Fratello is the best and I don't think it's really close.

Would we have enough room in the salary cap in March to take Aaron Brooks in Free Agency?

TheresABabyFaceUnderMyBeard
TheresABabyFaceUnderMyBeard 5pts

@TwisTz nope. Our salary cap is quite tied up. Don't expect any signings unless there's some other player movement on the team, and even then, it won't be Aaron Brooks because he'll command too much.

TwisTz

@JimboSlice He may take a big paycut on a short term deal to play with a Championship contender. You're probably right tho...

If Brooks isn't going to start Harden, as appears to be the case, the starting lineup needs another facilitator. There's nobody else on the bench to promote, so might be time to think about...oh crap, I promised to not talktrades until the deadline.

Never mind.

KD with 14 rebounds. Nice... but why is he doing all our rebounding? Our bigs really need to lift in that area.

HookemKD
HookemKD 5pts

@TwisTz 14 of his rebounds were defensive and he gets back faster than Perk or Ibaka so it's better to let KD board because the offense sets up more quickly. Plus he's 6'10" with a 7'6" wingspan and >30" vertical which generally makes for decent rebounding.
