You know what happened the last time the Thunder played the Nuggets? This happened. KD scored 41 and closed out Denver in dramatic fashion in Game 5. That series really exposed two things: 1) The Nuggets’ “team ball” style didn’t match up well with OKC and 2) these two teams, and fanbases, really don’t seem to like each other. Which is what makes it all a lot more fun.
The Nuggets appeared to be a legit Western Conference contender early on, but have fallen off due to a rash of injuries to big players. They’re still very dangerous and with them being a threat in the Northwest, OKC has to come ready to go. If there was a night to slip up in this homestand, this shouldn’t be it.
Denver coming in: The Nuggets last played Friday losing to Memphis.
Three Big Things
1. Who’s playing? Right now, as of writing this at 4:30 PM, both Perk and Westbrook are being called gametime decisions. I would bank on Westbrook playing — he’s never missed a game in his career — but I’m not so sure about Perk. Nene is out for Denver, meaning Perk isn’t needed quite as much as he otherwise would’ve been.
2. Ty Lawson. Without Nene or Danilo Gallinari, the Nuggets are going to look heavily to Lawson creating everything for them. He’s lightning quick and can create points for himself and others.
3. The terrifying “step up” player. The Nuggets are going to have someone step up and perform well if this is to be close. Against the Grizzlies it was Corey Brewer who scored 26. Could it be Arron Afflalo? Brewer? Rudy Fernandez? Al Harrington? Kenneth Faried? There are a lot of candidates. It’s so hard to stop that guy that steps up because you didn’t prepare for it. He comes out of nowhere. And if the Nuggets are to hang with OKC, someone is going to have to do it.
Tip at 7:00 CT. Go Oh Kay See.

on my way to the recap!
Serge was +31 in 40 min tonight. Insane. That means the Nuggets outscored us by 25 when Serge was off the court. #sergeprotector
first time in a long time we had less turnovers than the other team....
we get way more love on nba.com than espn.com
russ shot 50% from 3 point range
quote from KD "You might not believe me but at the end coach said to press up on Afflalo and let him go to the rim. That sounds kind of weird, right?" via royce
@OBoy Hai Haterz
#CoachGotSkillz
@Scott Brooks even better than this response is getting an email saying "scott brooks replied to you"
@OBoy HAHAHA!
@OBoy@Scott Brooks It would be hillarious to get a "Scott Brooks liked you" email... Unfortunately I think it would be "Scott Brooks liked your comment" instead.
@OBoy yea thats crazy... and serge did block the shot... maybe brooks isnt a bad coach... if we win the championship, he is a mad genius with an unconventional style
Jeremy Lin: 28 points & 7 turnovers is a national story. Russell Westbrook: 40 points & 2 turnovers is an OKC public radio story.#Linsanity HAHAH I love the billwalton account
What a day...just got home, missed the game - anything exciting happen?
@courtsense hope you're kidding
@ThunderChick2010 I'm just messing with y'all - I was screaming so loud during the 4Q and OT thought the neighbors were gonna call the cops. What a game.
@courtsense go to espn3, watch the game get off of dailythunder.com
@courtsense Uh, you may want to sit down bro...
People like to say Westbrook and Durant are Batman and Robin, but I think it's more like The Avengers. A team of superheroes.
great tweet from Royce
Wow.. the Thunder are the first team in league history to have a player go for 50, 40 and an triple double in the same game.. unbeleivable.. and still all they can talk about it Jeremy freaking Lin
@ChilamBilam12 It honestly makes you wonder what KD would have to score to make Lin the second story. 60? 70? 80? 100?
Jeremy who?
durant and westbrook had 25 points in last 5 mins of 4th and OT
Nuggets fans are saying the refs cost them the game
@RRRWHOAAAA They had said KD was poor edition Reggie Miller.
@RRRWHOAAAA I'm pretty sure that comment is stored in the clip board on their computers so they can just paste it after every game with us.
@RRRWHOAAAA Uh...?
@JamesChurch probably referring to the traveling calls
@RRRWHOAAAA@JamesChurch HA! They were obvious travels. The replays show that.
i think it's being overlooked that Nazr Mohammad also had a classic game......just not in a good way
@OBoy He was a -24 tonight. Nice job Nazr.
@OBoy his 4 pts were at crucial moments tho
@RRRWHOAAAA i've never seen a player be in such great position to grab rebounds and not get them
Ibaka shot and put backs were just what the doctor ordered. Hope he keeps it up
We seriously need a new head coach though westbrook and durant cant keep carrying us like this
@Lost Ones That kind of talent definitely covers up a lot of warts. But I'll worry about that tomorrow.
@Old Man Game brooks dont even use timeouts we would have lost if it wasnt for lucky shots this is bad for our stomach :(
I think what I am so impressed with about Ibaka, is that he is very smart with his blocks. He's being very intelligent with just getting his hand on the ball and not committing a foul on the shooter.
@Fezzy Dwight, Deandre, and Javale are athletes that block shots. Ibaka is a shot blocker. Watching him this season compared to those other guys is helping me understand what made bill russell so special.
@Stephen Jackson is not about this spelling@Fezzy he needs to be better at blocking them to his team mates, like russell did
@Fezzy His timing on his blocks is unbelievable. Can't catch a ball thrown straight to his hands but offensive rebounds stick like glue and he blocks like a beast.
I'll take it.
@Stringer Bell@Fezzy But did you see him come up with the catch after his own block . . . or is that just considered a steal?
@ThunderChick2010@Fezzy It counts as a rebound I think. Which is why he was able to chorale it.
So glad this game was on ESPN 3 so I can rewatch that 4th quarter and OT.
only 3rd time in history players on the same team had 50 and 40, the other two were triple OT games.

We did an OKC, that's what.
@deleted_1998213_Don'tStoptheSergeing We had only 14 turnovers
@deleted_1998213_Don'tStoptheSergeing Transcendent performance by a once in a generation player, unbelievable performance by an all-star, and a defensive clinic by the best shot blocker in the NBA.
@Old Man Game@deleted_1998213_Don'tStoptheSergeing sums it up.
@deleted_1998213_Don'tStoptheSergeing We won you missed a Game for the ages
Great game Thunderoos
