Thabo Sefolosha to return to starting lineup tonight

by Royce Young on March 15, 2012 at 1:19 pm 192 Comments

After missing 23 games because of a foot injury that had him in a walking cast at one point, Thabo Sefolosha will return to his starting shooting guard position for the Thunder tonight against the Nuggets.

The Thunder tried James Harden in that spot for one game, but have used Daequan Cook as Thabo’s substitute mostly. Without Sefolosha though, veteran Royal Ivey has emerged as a major contributor off the Thunder bench. So with Thabo back, it’ll be interesting to see what Scott Brooks decides to do with his rotation. Does Ivey get cut out? Does Ivey maybe replace Cook? Or does Brooks go to an 11-man?

Before the injury, Sefolosha was hitting a career-high 48.1 percent from 3-point range and averaging 5.2 points per game in 20.2 minutes.

Might be better to play Jackson in garbage minutes for the rest of the season to get his confidence back up.

Let Ivey be the backup PG(Harden is going to be running the 2nd unit anyway) and have Cook go back to his normal role.

And YEAH- Thabo! Here is hoping we see Ivey coming off the bench behind Russell. I genuinely hope that Jackson develops into a rotation player, but right now I dread seeing him coming onto the floor.

Or Dwight who has been made by SVG in to the far and away best defensive player in the league? The one who signed on again today to stay with that coach he apparently hates according to you?

You could not be more wrong.  Sorry

 @C_Dub Whose dream?

4razr

 @justin_mia  @C_Dub

 I've seen others down on Nate, but I really like him.  Much smarter and demanding than Brooks. Don't know if his style would fit this team, he really likes to slow it down--but I like his philosophy of ball-control, no mistakes (he hates turnovers), high-efficiency basketball. I thought he did well in Portland given all of the setbacks they had. Looks like he lost the team this year, though. Would predict a huge clash between Nate and Westbrook, Russ is the antithesis of a McMillan point. Nate would want to bring back Antonio Daniels (circa 2004). If it went well, Russ would be the better for it. If it went badly, could end up in a power struggle. Russ benched every time he makes a bad turnover?

 you think he'll bring portland's bad luck/karma with him? We'd be ok as long as Paul Allen doesn't end up owning Thunder.

People actually want Diaw or Nick Young?  Man y'all are spoiled.  Most of these guys would be trading for trading's sake.

Try being a fan of a bad team for a while.  You'll realize how good "the model" is once you watch a team stuck in purgatory for years.  Vikings, Twins, are all right there.  Good enough to make playoffs but never break hump over to a ship and now terrible cause they couldn't keep those players

 @RodneyRosavelRusanWilson Yeah I guess.  I'm just a little tired of the hyperbole around our needs.  All of our problems come back to coaching and focus (coaching), and a player wasn't gonna change that.  And cause this board is usually extremely reasonable.  Being surrounded by minnesota fans who fool themselves in to thinking Brett Favre was ever the right move will do that to ya

ThunderWins

 @RodneyRosavelRusanWilson  @David_MN You know how much more sweet it will be when we win it all with talent we drafted and suffered with all the way from 20 wins to a ring.

I was really looking forward to us doing something interesting at the deadline, but in all seriousness, I'm actually pretty happy with where the team is at. I'd like to get one more serviceable big eventually, since Nazr and Nick are getting older, but its not like it has to happen right now, especially with the loaded draft coming up. Reggie will be fine, as long as he has the trusty beard to take the pressure off of him.

I wanted to see a trade, just like everyone else. It would have been nice to grab a cheap PG or SG/SF combo to help the second unit. But I don't see anything wrong with maintaining consistency and showing your guys that you believe in their abilities.

Bry Bry

 @ThunderWins

Like I said, I would have tried to do something. But the Thunder has one of the cheapest rosters in the business and any trade for anyone worth while (except maybe Agustin) would have required unloading multiple players OR taking on MORE salary.

I can see why Presti didn't get what he wanted. Besides, who wants to make the Thunder better??? Nobody. They have all seen what happens to teams that deal with OKC.

 @Lost Ones  @LPCes99 i think at this point the model only matters because brooks might not be able to manage the personalities.... the bulls won with rodman. the pistons with sheed, the lakers with artest, you can have one oddball as long as they are productive and you have good culture and leadership
