Matt Moore of CBSSports.com: “The jumpers were wet, and when that happens, you’re doomed against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Ball movement, rotations to find the open shooter, quality, sharp execution, and a hungry active defense. The Thunder had the formula. The Mavs looked too old to keep up, the Thunder looked too young to slow down. Oklahoma City, two years removed from being a scrappy underdog losing in six games to the reigning champs, walked into the house of the team that beat them a year ago and waxed them. The Thunder sent a message Thursday night.”
ESPN Stats and Info: “Kevin Durant had the best shooting night of his playoff career, making 11 of 15 shots. After making on 15 of 44 shots in the first two games (34 percent), he shot a playoff career-high 73 percent from the field on Thursday. His previous playoff high was 59 percent (13-for-22) against the Denver Nuggets last season. Durant was even better from mid- and long-range. After making only 6 of 21 shots from 15 feet or further in the first two games, he was 8-for-10 in Game 3.”
Fascinating piece on Deadspin from a former Sonics employee that went through the move: “In Seattle, we wanted to denigrate the Okies so much that we couldn’t even keep our prejudices straight. We heard Bennett and Co.’s accents and saw their regressive politics, and we labeled them rubes and idiots. At the same time, we painted them as sinister geniuses who’d cynically orchestrated the theft of our team, with David Stern as their co-conspirator. Resentful Seattleites are like those 9/11 Truthers who simultaneously believe that the government is both totally inept and guilty of perpetrating and covering up an immense terror plot. You can’t have it both ways. Either Bennett is an idiot who married into his fortune and lucked into the team, or he’s a canny businessman who played the game shrewdly and won. I have to think he’s the latter. I need only look at the organization he’s put together to know he’s running the club better than Schultz—the media-ordained genius—ever did. It was Bennett who brought in the architect of the club, Sam Presti, based on their mutual connections with the San Antonio Spurs. It was Bennett who allowed Presti to build slowly around Durant instead of demanding wins immediately. Sure, there was plenty of bad faith on Bennett’s part during the sale, but at this point it’s silly to expect anything else from a sports owner. Caveat emptor applies to us as much as it does to owners. They are running revenue-maximizing operations, and a fanbase is of use to them only to the extent that it makes them money. All we can hope for is that an owner cares enough about his product to give us something worth watching every year. By all evidence Clay Bennett cares about his product. Howard Schultz never did. Maybe that’s the ultimate deception in the Sonics’ story: A lot of us had the wrong villain all along.”
My postgame piece for CBSSports.com on last night’s win.
John Krolik for PBT on OKC’s win: “Essentially, this was the game where the Thunder lived up to their billing as the odds-on favorites to win the Western Conference, and the Mavericks looked like an aging title contender who gave up Tyson Chandler for a shot at getting Deron Williams or Dwight Howard next year. Mavericks fans should probably cherish their memories of the 2011 Playoffs right about now, because Dallas’ chances of repeating are about as slim as it gets right now.”
Cool reaction video to Game 1′s winner from the Norman Arts Festival.
Berry Tramel: “The Mavericks trailed by just six, Terry was about to make it a four-point game and American Airlines Center was ready for liftoff. Enter Serge Ibaka. Air Congo flew in from behind, let Terry release the ball and swatted the ball to Grand Prairie. The Rawlings looked like it had been shot out of a cannon. It sailed on a line sideways, the 25 feet to the out-of-bounds line and beyond. Over the heads of the rich and famous in the Nicholson seats. Past the peasants sitting behind them. The ball landed about seven rows up, with all the velocity of a baseball line drive. Holy guacamole, Mav fans seemed to say. And their team seconded the motion.”
Ibaka’s block was pretty awesome.
Jeff Caplan of ESPN Dallas: “The bottom line to it all, as much as the Mavs and their fans wanted to believe otherwise, is that this stripped-down version of the title team lacks essential parts to properly function. Gone: the fiery leadership, rebounding and defense of Tyson Chandler; the penetration of J.J. Barea; and the fierceness of DeShawn Stevenson. These Mavs really are too old and too slow to keep up with the Thunder’s remarkable foursome of Durant, Westbrook, Serge Ibaka and James Harden, all of whom have yet to turn 24. And to think this is the team most fans wanted over the Los Angeles Lakers. It probably didn’t matter.”
From Elias: “The Thunder rolled into Dallas and whipped the Mavericks, 95-79, to take a three-games-to-none lead in their first-round series. That is the largest margin of defeat in history by a team playing in its first home playoff game in defense of an NBA championship.”

it's funny!
I always loved to be labeled "regressive, rubes, and idiots".... thanks for the team!
Eminems daughter sporting a KD jersey. http://www.enstarz.com/articles/2502/20120501/eminem-daughter-hailie-jade-scott-mathers-photos.htm
@cb1123 She looks like she's up to about 0 good in all of those photos. Drinking smirnoff ice at 16 and taking middle finger pictures isn't really "cool". She's pretty though.

Bogut got a first-place MIP vote. Rest easy whoever cast DPOY votes for Russ and Greg Monroe, your reign as dumbest vote of the award season is over.
@Jooseppi MJ has a serious bogut crush
The Basketball Jones love when Mavs coach flip out last night
Did anyone notice that in the rare instance Dallas got penetration into the lane last night, it was always right down the center where Perk or Ibaka was waiting?
I wonder if that was intentional.... Maybe Brooks told them that if they could not stop the ball, to at least funnel the ball handler down the center??? I don't think I've seen or noticed that before.

HAHAHA
@persiansooner13 why is Chris Paul wearing KD's uniform? (:33)
@persiansooner13
Still laughing
@BRY BRY @persiansooner13 "go back home sweet children because there's nothing to see here"
@persiansooner13
HAHAHAHAHAHA --- - - - "Earl Boykins on a step ladder"
@persiansooner13 Owen Wilson. LOLZ
@persiansooner13 @ vince carter "They call him the backdoor destroyer for a reason" LOL
@Coletrain17 "slammed it against the rim like a clumsy pornstar"WOW.
And I love how the the game accurately captures how bad haywood is
TGR game 3 recap is up search TGR on iTunes
In a way I'm kinda glad the first two games were close. The way the Mavs complained and acted like they had just been the victim of bad luck and bad officiating made game three that much sweeter.
Even though I would have tickets for game 5, I hope the Thunder demoralize the Mavs in game 4.
the one thing i dont get is isnt miami a jump shooting team? Why does Barkley never bring that up?
@Thunder S poor guy never won it all
@Thunder S This always cracks me up, because you don't get to the line as much as the Thunder if you are only taking jump shots. You also don't have a top scoring offense.
@BRY BRY @Thunder S Funny how anyone can say we don't have post game when I watch KD and Russ in the post it seems like every game.
@BRY BRY @Thunder S Its all about creating matchups and if KD and Russ are effective in the post or anywhere to the point the other team has gamble defensively. We can beat anyone.
@ThunderWins @Thunder S
I guess it's not a traditional post game.... but a post game nonetheless
@BRY BRY @Thunder S If we played like the 76ers and never tried to draw contact or fouls - then we would a jumpshot team.
@Thunder S We shoot about the same mid range attempts in the regular season than Miami but way more three pointers.
@justin_mia @Thunder S How do we compare on attempts at the rim/in the post?
@Thunder S
Weren't the 1990's Bulls a 'Jump Shooting Team'?
@FF_pickups @Thunder S everyone besides the lakers and maybe the grizzlies are a jump shooting team this year
637 tickets are available on Ticket exchange for the Mavs game tomorrow night if you want to go
@tydude we should buy out a section and make some angry mavs fans.
@f5alcon Me and 4 friends have tickets in section 332. You guys buy some tickets and join us! Wear Thunder orange!
@TempBoy Brandon @f5alcon ticket exchange has 678 tickets right now it going up
@f5alcon @tydude Dude, I'd be so DOWN for that... not even funny.
@f5alcon i won't be surprise if tomorrow game is not even sold out
@tydude @f5alcon We don't need to buy any tickets.
We just need to show up as the cleaning crew.
There is going to be a lot of sweeping to do!
I really agree with the article by the Sonic employee. That's why the move did not affect my being a fan of the franchise. I will say this, I haven't been in a Starbucks in four or five years. Seattle locals are mad at the wrong guy (some get it). Go thunder. I live in the Bay, and want a LA match up round two so I can wear my Perk jersey in the Staples Center!!!!!!
@JeremyBrewer why not warriors fan?
@JeremyBrewer that was a stupid question nvr mind
@persiansooner13 No, I tried one year, and couldn't stop watching your team in OKC, so I went back to the ex wife! I was such a sonic fan, fourth row seats at half court all my formulative years (rich best friend, my pops a landscaper). To me, they are the same team, i know I know.
Is Deron Williams really that good to be the Mavericks' savior next year? I think he's decent but nothing extraordinary, but I am very spoiled being a Thunder fan : )
@KellOne They just think a pg is going to change things. As if they dont have a hall of famer running the point as it already is.
@Midnight Toker @KellOne Deron Williams really is underrated. I do sorta question their confidence in getting him. I'm sure the Lakers will be after him as well. I get that he's from Dallas, but how much of a deciding factor would that be for a guy who didn't even go to college in state?
@OBoymuzik @anonymous12345 @Midnight Toker @KellOne yeah the lakers dont have the money, and sessions is good enough.
@anonymous12345 @Midnight Toker @KellOne no possible way lakers can get Deron without dumping gasol
@Midnight Toker Kidd is quite the liability on offense tho
@Midnight Toker @KellOne it'll help...they need a solid center more
@OBoymuzik @Midnight Toker @KellOne also let's not count out Deron...Kidd is a HOFer but he is far past his prime. You put Williams in Dallas with even an average center and they scare me. Don't forget that before (and even including) last year, for years Williams has been competing with Chris Paul for that title of best PG.
All of the Tyson Chandler talk today. Just think if TC would have been able to sign with the Thunder.,, Thanks Doctor.
@Skyline Royce did a long piece a while back on what trades and such would have gone differently had Chandler stayed with the team. But I just can't remember anymore who came after the failed trade..... I'm a bad fan lol
@BRY BRY
I think we wouldn't have ended up with Maynor, Cook, or Perkins. There might be some other ones in there.
@BRY BRY @Skyline RAM memory only lasts so long...
@Skyline I thought that watching him keep the Knicks in the game last night. Imagine if we had both Def players of the year candidates on the squad. I do realize there would be other implications all you numbers guys!!!!
@Skyline
yeah, but who knows what other pieces would have now.....
