Kendrick Perkins injury update

by Royce Young on May 6, 2012 at 7:27 pm 197 Comments

The Thunder announced Sunday that Kendrick Perkins had an MRI that confirmed he suffered a right hip muscle strain in Game 4 against the Mavericks. He’s listed as day to day and his return to play will be based on his progress and recovery in the coming days.

Perk appeared to just tweak his hip early in the first quarter and did not return to the game.

With the Thunder sweeping the Mavs they will await the winner of the Nuggets-Lakers series. The Thunder will have about a week off guaranteed, with potentially nine days of rest, which could be big in getting Perk healthy for the second round.

@MisterJohnsonOKC I don't know what kind of dental procedure she is having, but I had major oral surgery at the age of 3 and I came through all right. Daily Thunderers have your back. Everything will be fine.

So if LA is able to win Tuesday, would the game be Sat or Sun?   I would predict Sun for the Prime TV time and to allow LA to prepare.  It looks like the age of LA (Kobe) is really starting to show.

I'm hoping for Sunday.  We've got graduation going on Saturday and I'm quite sure Mother of the Year would be hopelessly out of reach if I skip out for a Thunder game.  :)

Went to graduation Saturday and many of the grads had sayings or pictures on the top of their mortar boards.  One I saw had "Thunder Up."

I have to believe that if we get KD, Russ & Harden on all cylinders we are good for the remainder. Ibaka, Perk, and Thabo can be less than perfect and we would still prevail. Bring on the Lakers (or whomever)!!!!

Gallonari with 2me back to back flops that weren't called (thank goodness/dang it) that led to two wide open back to back 3 that cost his team the game. Boy am i glad we don't have any floppers on this team.

@ElMexiThunder I don't know man.  Westbrook has been getting to that point when he throws his hands in the air when he gets to the rim.  The reason it's starting to agitate me is because he'd usually  complain to a ref instead of getting back on D when he doesn't get the call

@ElMexiThunder i think we exaggerate at times instead of flopping.

@ThunderWins When a defense collapses on Bynum, they live the like's of Session's and Blake open in around the arc.  I hope Westbrook doesn't fall for that trap and stay's on them.  This all depends on Perk.  I hope he is healthy for this series against the Lakers.  We're going to need him big, so he can play one-on-one against Bynum and have Westbrook stay on Sessions and Fisher on Blake.
