Thunder head coach Scotty Brooks told us after the game last night Kendrick Perkins was good to go and could have gone back in the game after aggravating his strained right hip muscle.
Things changed a little bit overnight.
“He came in today and was just a little sore so we’ll see how he feels tomorrow.”
Perkins did not practice today, instead getting treatments from the Thunder medical staff. He’ll get more of that later today and then again tomorrow.
“We will talk with the doctors, our medical team, Perk and myself we’ll all get together and do what’s best for Perk,” Brooks told a throng of reporters, “and if he’s ready to go he’ll go and if he’s not then we won’t play him but we’ll see he feels tomorrow.”
NAZR MOHAMMED

Perkins is known for being one of the toughest players in the league when it comes to playing with pain and dealing with injuries in fact Brooks thinks his center has almost superhero like powers.
“He’s as tough as they come if they ever do another Avengers movie he’d probably be one of the characters, Perk. It’d be Thor, Captain America and Perk.”
If Perkins doesn’t play tomorrow night expect Nazr Mohammed to start in his place and Cole Aldrich likely will see some important minutes too.

“I’m hoping he’s (Perkins) is okay,” said Mohammed today, “he’s one of our leaders, he’s our defensive leader and he’s the heart and soul of this team, but my mindset (if Perkins can’t go) is just to try and play defense and try to continue some of the things he did on the floor and then add to it some of things that I do.”
Like forcing Andrew Bynum to guard him out away from the basket and then hit open shots, both of which Nazy did last night.
“That’s my job, to be there and make the open shot if the ball is given to me and other than that to set screens and try to finish off plays.”
Brooks will have no second thoughts about starting Mohammed and increasing minutes for both Aldrich and Nick Collison.

“I’m confident,” he declared, “those guys, Naz, Cole, Nick, Serge (Ibaka) and Kevin (Durant) they can play good minutes for us and Naz has great experience he’s been on a Championship team (2005 Spurs) and has played important minutes throughout his career.”
Some of the most important could very well come tomorrow night against the Lakers if the newest Avenger can’t play.

Why are these games so goddamn late? 9:30 PM? It's goddamn 2:30 AM in my country
Even 8 PM is acceptable
Today is the day. Lakers steal one. Then make a run. Lakers in 5. Your friend, Fletch.
@FletchMFletcher The only thing the Lakers are stealing are towels from the Skirvin. Tonight will be another large dose of reality for LA.
@FletchMFletcher Goodbye, "friend".
I don't want to play the Clippers in the WCF. We need only 4 great games out of 7 to beat the Spurs, and it's possible.
This quote from MWP now available at www.newsok.com: "I didn't realize Oklahoma had so many fine women." Followed with: Question - How do the Lakers try to recover from the Game 1 blowout" MWP: It's the same thing like a man has 5 wives." You have to watch the video.
@Percolate As long as he doesn't kill or maim anyone and LA keeps believing in artest, then we're gonna do just fine. Thanks for making this easier LA.
Good morning. Turnover percentages, regular season first, playoffs second:
Perkins - 27.5, 18.9
Sefolosha - 18.7, 0
Harden - 14.8, 13.7
Westbrook - 14.2, 9.7
Durant - 14.0, 11.9
Ibaka - 12.7, 7.4
Fisher - 11.6. 8.6
Cook - 5.0, 0
And the two players that tried their best to ruin my point:
Mohammed - 12.7, 16.8
Collison - 21.1, 24.5
While those numbers are likely to even out a bit, it's hard to see a lot of teams beating OKC if they keep that up, particularly Westbrook and Durant.
@Jooseppi Considering his usage rate and reputation, Westbrook's is probably the most surprising.
As long as he doesn't get into a funk and listen to the media, we could be looking at a title this year.
If you read the morning paper, all the media hype surrounding Westbrook was shirt and glasses-related. (I'll take it.)
@alvarex Westbrook's overall play has been excellent. He's going to be able to find a mismatch in most games and so far he's been able to play under control and effectively and efficiently abuse them more often than not.
Chuck makin fun of OKC, I'm from the nj/NYC area so idk how it is in OKC but his comments r funny, hopefully Noones sensitive
@LPCes99 I've lived in OKC through out my life, and live here now. However i've lived in Manhattan, San Antonio and Mexico City, i gotta admit i enjoy living in Oklahoma alot more. Its not as bad as what Chuck says. OKC overall is still small time but hey we're the 4thbest fastest growing city in the U.S. btw don't buy in to his comments about how theres nothing but white folk. The city has so many different cars cultures.
@LPCes99 I'm from D.C. Living in OKC, itz not that bad as he portrays...he is an idiot!
@kdub I know one girl from OK but she's not from OKC, she's from some small town, it has a funny name , can't recall right now...but she says it's dead in her town, go figure Now she lives in NYC so BIG difference
@D@nny @ThunderChick2010 I was watching with my dad when Harlan made the Miami shout-out and he said "Well, nobody outside Oklahoma understood that one."
@D@nny @ThunderChick2010 I was born in Miami, but raised in Wagoner.
@LPCes99 @kdub I'm from smallsville OK. I used to pine for the "big" city. Now that I live here though I find it sort of a pain in the ass at times. But we have thge Thunder which makes it all worth it.
@D@nny @loplopol
*Stephen A. Smith voice* Ti-a-go S PL iiiii ter. Please. These guys make ours look Oscar-worthy.
@D@nny Norman No Doubt. We got them to sing!
@loplopol Who wins in a 7-game series between OKC's car-commercial and SAS's car-commercial?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGjeCbcK28w
@ThunderChick2010 @D@nny @nny
Norman.
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooooh..
@D@nny
Love Norman!
@ThunderChick2010 nope. Went to OU, and I live in Norman still.
@D@nny
You drive to the games from there???
@ThunderChick2010 Is there any other way? :)
@D@nny
my AM uh ?
@ThunderChick2010 Speaking of: I heard K Harlan gave my (hometown) Miami, OK shout-out during the broadcast last night. Heard he even pronounced it right.
@ThunderChick2010 @nny It was def Broken Arrow
@LPCes99 @nny
You sure it wasn't Broken Bow?
@D@nny Yea didn't know that, she said it was small and that the walmart is very popular. I never lived in a smaller state but I did visit Oregon and it was pretty dead there which I didn't mind at all
@LPCes99 You'll find it funny to know that Broken Arrow is Oklahoma's 5th largest city. Its public high school is the biggest in the state, and it's a suburb of Tulsa.
So compared to the places that some of us are from....
@ThunderChick2010 @kdub Looked it up, it was broken arrow! Wow chuck and shaq need to work out lol
@LPCes99 @kdub
hmmmm . . . a small town with a funny name . . . That really narrows it down. :)
@LPCes99
No . . . no one is sensitive around here.
@ThunderChick2010 I hope not ! ; )
I think it looks like this SAS/LAC match will get one sided fairly quickly. If the Thunder want to hit the floor against SAS with any kind of chance then I hope they don't think putting it all off by letting LAL go to seven games is a way to scrimmage up.
at least,we never allowed duncan played as efficient as today Lac did
@shiki deandre jordan on duncan was almost as laughable as Blake on Russ last night
@OBoymuzik @shiki But he had big dunks in the first half!
For what it's worth, we beat the better LA team by much more that San Antonio
*than...i should get some sleep
hopefully brooks is watching this u cant play big ball vs SA
Zooey just asked her iPhone if the Spurs were winning.
@ThunderChick2010 Isn't that just so quirky and adorable of her?! She should be in everything ever from now on until the end of time!
@Arent
Zooey: How many points for a basket?
Siri: Here's the answer to your question.
@Arent
Would you like me to create that reminder for you?
@ThunderChick2010 "Remind me to watch the Celtics/Sixers series...never"
So the Spurs are scary but I dunno if they are Cthulu scary or anything. The clippers are an awful defensive team and they are only down 12 somehow
@FREE_COLE We will need to play really, really, really well to beat them, but it is entirely possible. Better defense, better rebounding, Papa Johns....err...I mean, the Thunder will be fine if they improve in those aspects.
@Arent Can Kawhi stop KD? I don't really think so
@FREE_COLE It'll be a hard-fought, classic series for sure.
