KD took some exception to a few questions: “I’m just going to play my game,” Durant started. “I can’t really think about how those guys are going to defend me. They’re a tough defensive group. But every question is about how the Spurs are going to come and how the Spurs are going to play. But you got to ask me how we’re going to come at them. We’re a tough team as well. We come out and play hard. We have a lot of weapons as well. I know they’re the No. 1 seed, they’re a tough group and they haven’t lost in a couple of months but I think that we bring another dimension to the table as well. And we can come out and compete.”
Kevin Pelton of Basketball Prospectus looking back at the 2007 lottery: “Durant benefited from the low-pressure management of the team’s front office. While Oden was feted in downtown Portland after the draft and his picture appeared on a grain silo near the Rose Garden, Thunder GM Sam Presti–hired two weeks after the lottery–would not allow Durant to be singled out the same way. From the outside, the expectations of Durant were beyond control. Internally, he was to be treated as just another starter.”
Nick Collison for GQ exchanging emails with Lang Whitaker: “My favorite moment of Game Five was probably when you caught that follow dunk and hung on the rim for like a split-second longer than necessary. NC: When you don’t really jump that high on dunks sometimes you pull yourself up on the rim a little to try to make it look better. It doesn’t really work.”
Shaq is going to interview for the Magic GM position.
Metta World Peace says the Lakers were better than the Thunder: “(We) definitely underachieved,” World Peace said. “We were the best team in the NBA and lost in five (games). The best team in the NBA should be up 3-2 and playing tomorrow, but the (Oklahoma City Thunder was the) better team that took advantage of the moment, that took advantage of their time, they seized, they grabbed it and they held on to it.”
Jim Rome talking Thunder-Spurs.
This column from Jim Souhan of the Star-Tribune made the rounds yesterday, but here’s a taste if you missed it: “2. If you can’t get a ticket, don’t gather like zombies: Thunder fans gathered outdoors to watch the game on TV. This doesn’t demonstrate unity. This demonstrates that there is nothing else to do in your town.”
Spencer of The Lost Ogle with a response: ‘Sure, we’ve been there before, but does that mean we shouldn’t be excited and proud of our team for getting one step closer to an NBA championship? And last time I checked, senior proms happen every year, making the playoffs doesn’t… as you well know.”
Michael Lee of the Washington Post on Westbrook: “Westbrook was arguably the most scrutinized player not named LeBron James last postseason. His spastic temperament was considered a liability to the Thunder’s championship hopes, and his every shot was second-guessed and viewed as a rebellious refusal to defer to media darling Kevin Durant. The criticism made Westbrook a little more guarded and withdrawn, but losing to eventual champion Dallas in the Western Conference Finals is what made him determined to make amends.”
Jim Cavan of the NYT on Westbrook: “At the center of it all – a shared center, if the M.V.P. runner-up Durant has anything to say about it – has been Westbrook, whose near 10-point jump in overall offensive rating (105.7 in last year’s playoffs to 115 this year) has propelled the Thunder back into the conference finals and a date with the lately invincible San Antonio Spurs. The Thunder might have dropped the last two to the Spurs, but it certainly was not because of Westbrook, whose numbers (22.3 points, 5.7 assists, and a stellar 7.8 turnover rate) in three games against San Antonio must be the standard if the Thunder have any chance of exorcising their conference finals demons.”
Fran Blinebury of NBA.com: “The hits just keep on coming for Tony Parker. No sooner does he get past the Clippers and All-Star point guard Chris Paul than up pops the Thunder’s Russell Westbrook blocking his path. Never mind three-time NBA leading scorer Kevin Durant. After the Spurs finished a long practice Wednesday ahead of Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, Parker said the key to keep moving ahead is slowing down Westbrook.”

Somebody needs to let Jim Souhan know that he's in Minneapolis...about the least cool city in the NBA! His advice to the Thunder fans is kinda like the nerd guy trying to give advice about how to get girls. Neither one has been there nor knows that the hell they're talking about. LOL
Why is no one talking about Duncan vs out Bigs. Duncan is having a huge post season already. Unlike Gasol, Duncam isn't soft. I'm scared of this match up.
Kobe now has 10 first team selections, tied with Jordan. He also has 2 2nd team and 2 3rd team. They also both have 9 defensive first team selections, but Kobe has 3 second team defense. Then again, Jordan has 6 finals mvps to Kobes 2, 10 scoring titles to Kobes 2, and 5 mvps to his 1.
Souhan is an idiot. If there was ever a problem with the fans, then why would everybody across the league be saying we have one of the best, if not THE best, arena in the NBA. Our players love it too! We have a bunch of rabid fans who express their love of the Thunder. I don't know if he thinks Minnesota is the shit or something, but it's not; he needs to get over himself. Even if people outside of Oklahoma don't care about us, at least we have some pride for our state and our team. I think our team is doing the most amazing job of any in the playoffs right now of rallying its fans and showing its players how much we support them. And the point about the matching shirts is dumb. People love free shirts PLUS it looks amazing. If he needs evidence he should look no further than here:

This is my favorite part of the MN article, this guy is a moron for sure:
"If the Wolves ever make the playoffs again, they should play musicians of local origin, such as Prince, the Jayhawks, or a dozen bands someone hipper than me could conjure up.
And they could replace the predictable soundtrack with a pep band.
There's nothing quite like going to a good college basketball game and hearing a pep band. Why can't that work in the pros? It would be better than another rendition of "Rock and Roll (Part 2)''.
Minnesota can do better than Oklahoma City. But we probably won't."
@PowerSerge In fairness, it would be pretty great if the arena was solely Oklahoma acts. I imagine most season ticket holders wouldn't enjoy The Flaming Lips and Johnny Polygon over every break, though I think it would be great to play "Mr. Ambulance Driver" for injuries and "I Wanna Sex You Up" for kiss cam.
@Jooseppi @PowerSerge I thought the stadium music was a league dictated thing. Surely we are smart enough to get something else than the few overly repeated songs we have.
I like Bill Simmons' idea of making All NBA Team, MVP voting, etc. public. I want to know who put Carmelo as all nba first team.
@justin_mia
I almost liked you first Justin!
What are you guys thoughts on Comments from Tony Parker about Westbrook. Basicly saying #0 hasnt been chalenged yet and TP is gonna make him work for everything. Also they said that TP completely worked over #0 in the game he dropped 42 on us. I agree TP will be the biggest challenge for #0 the whole post season but if i recall #0 played quite well in that game and from what i understand Coach Pop told TP to not worry about passing and just get 30 shots up for that game. Is that really a recipe for success?
@ThunderTheFUp Who else can guard Parker beside Royal Ivey? You think Thabo/Harden can do a good job on him? If thabo can guard parker, westbrook can take it easy of kawahi or green. Those guys are just spot shooters and slashers.
I think Parker can't guard westbrook, and westbrook can't guard Parker. Its going to come down to decision making between and being patient for each and who has the best help defense.
I don't think Fisher should ever be matched up with Parker in the second unit either.
@ThunderTheFUp i noticed that nazr was in the game most the time parker went to the rim. with ibaka and perk in i dont see him getting those that easy. PLUS russ is like super saiyan level 2 now , hes our mini vegeta :D
@ThunderTheFUp dont have a problem w/ it. he was asked if they should go at westbrook and he said yes. its also a fact none of the previous p. guards attacked russ. itll be interesting to see what we do w/ TP he has a good midrange, floater, and layup game. lol can russ just front him like terry?i think also russ will have a big defensive rebounding series. he has a decided advantage, and that will be key to igniting the break as well.
@Thunder S @ThunderTheFUp Russ says "Definitely!"
@ThunderTheFUp I really doubt pop is looking at it the way TP described, because yes the 2 point guards we faced aren't good but both teams spent a majority of their game planning on stopping Russ because Marion and MWP are strong defenders on KD
@OBoymuzik I may be off but didnt Kobe take #0 for a few times during this series? I didnt see TP name on that all defensive team. Im sure RW can handle him self. Id be more worried about KD if i was SAS fan. If they think that Rookie Leonerd can hold KD they are crazy. He's good but you can take him off the dribble quite easy.
@ThunderTheFUp
He's a big ol dummy! Westbrook is better than any pointguard to ever play the game! Parker has never seen a player with Westbrook level of awesomeness and basketball awesomeness! I have two posters of Westbrook!
I love you Royce!
@DTfanboy Interesting take on trolling. We will watch your career with great interest.
@ThunderTheFUp Parker has never seen an angry Westbrook.
@C-Wil @ThunderTheFUp Westbrook has never seen an angry Parker

?
@C-Wil Also #0 has completely stepped his game up in the playoffs so far. #0 from a few months ago isnt close the same guy playing right now. And SAS interior D isnt really that close to LALA who #0 just shredded
NBA 1st Team: Durant, LeBron, Kobe, CP3, DHoward. 2nd: Love, Griffin, Bynum, Parker, Westbrook. 3rd: Dirk, Melo, Chandler, DWade, Rondo.
Swap Lebron, Kobe and CP3 for Love, Harden and Westbrook and call it my Dream Team.
@diddoff Melo haha.
@Jooseppi @diddoff yeah no way melo deserved it, aldridge, millsap
@ATH @f5alcon @diddoff Smith and Aldridge over Melo for sure. I don't care much about the pecking order in the teams because usually other than two or three players on first team you could argue all day about it.
But Millsap with the same number of votes as Ibaka, Gortat, Scola and Ellis is criminal.
@f5alcon @Jooseppi @diddoff Josh Smith was awesome this season. He should have been second team over Griffin, IMO.
@Jooseppi

SCOLA!?
@HookemKD @diddoff @Jooseppi I'm a die hard OU fan and I think Griffin is drastically overrated.
@diddoff @Jooseppi Aldridge should be at least on third team. Griffin is not as good of an all around player. (and I think most people would agree outside of my UT/OU bias)
All NBA Teams: KD in first, Russ in 2nd! More to come
no players can be all-star when he played with Roy,Aldridge is a good example.so oden would become a rich man edition perk if his knee is OK.
@shiki oden is a much better offensive player than perk
@f5alcon
Actually, Oden is a much better <anything but basketball player> than perk. Because Oden hasn't bean able to play...he might have (had) a better ceiling, but you can't say he's better, since he isn't actually playing ;)
Good job Royce. I've been wondering for a while why they have not sought your input more often.
Hope to hear more of that.
They should just hand out the Larry O'Brien to the WCF winner. Save some time and get the summer started. Anyone who thinks the Heat have a shot at beating either of these teams is a moron.
@HookemKD Then we would miss out on the final dismantling of the pre-ordained dynasty that arose from "The Decision". That would be must see TV.
@KellOne @HookemKD hopefully the pacers win tonight and it at least push it to a game 7.
If the Celtics come out of the East I actually would like to watch that series though.
Pacers shirts for tonight. http://bit.ly/KCqQCR
To me, that's worse than "All In" or other washed up slogans.
@diddoff same as game 3 for them.
@diddoff They've been using that "Swag" theme for a while now
@Tronchaser I know, but #GOLDSWAGGER as Twitter hashtag?
@diddoff /shrug It's the Pacers man.. they gotta get excited about something.
Any links to that Minnesota article?
@C-Wil It's in the bolts.
@Tronchaser Read it. Was hilarious.
@young money @C-Wil That wasn't a parody? Ohhhh.
@C-Wil Yeah I'm from Minnesota and Souhan (who wrote the article) is and always has been a total moron
