Saturday Morning Cartoons: From his hood to yours

by Royce Young on June 2, 2012 at 8:00 am 72 Comments

Happy Saturday. Thank you for your support of Daily Thunder. Thunder it up.

KD had quite the lockout summer. He played flag football, worked out, played basketball everywhere, worked out and played more basketball. The Mars Reel followed KD around and made this pretty cool documentary about Durant hooping all over.

So i've been thinking, but hows about the people who live in the OKC area, and even like the Mid West City, Edmond, even Norman area. Why don't we make a basketball team and play in a weekend league or something? I'de be down for it. Just don't let me shoot outside of 18 feet.

All this criticism of Westbrook and the Thunder offense is ridiculous and so frustrating.  We had the number 2 most efficient offense in the regular season.  But you say that the playoffs is different, right?  I suppose so because we have the NUMBER1 most efficient offense in the playoffs.  Imagine if all the NFL 'experts' came on and said "I'm sick of this New England offense.  Tom Brady is throwing WAY too much.  They need to run the ball more." That's obviously an idiotic criticism.

[censored]
[censored] 5pts

 @FF_pickups I think the main criticism is that our offense doesn't always maximize possessions efficiently.  On the whole our offense is top three in the league, but that's predicated a lot on fast break opportunities and defensive stops / run outs.  We're one of the best, if not the best, in transition.  In the half court there are legitimate issues, which have cost us games in the playoffs (Spurs game one).

FF_pickups
FF_pickups 5pts

 @justin_mia

Yeah, your criticism is exactly what I was talking about.  It's absurd.  And the Patriots offense isn't great either.  The Packers were below average running the ball, they need to scrap that system.  smh

Aren't

 @FF_pickups Westbrook seems like he's been playing pretty well in these playoffs to me. He pretty much won 2 of the games in the series against Dallas and help immensely against the Lakers. What's the problem?

I'm just going to straight up say it. Lil Wayne is a #!%@&. I figured he would pull out that racial card too. Guess it doesn't matter that Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Xzibit, and Jay Z have all been to Thunder games. None of them got special services or sat front like he wanted. It just soo happens none of them complained either.

@Keith00 @C-Wil @KellOne @todayisbananas Almost every comment I've read on every other article is all about how the Thunder did the right thing.. I don't think anyone (besides Lil Wayne and KayDee) really thinks that the Thunder or OKC was being racist in any way.

Keith00

 @C-Wil  @KellOne  @todayisbananas Anyone who READS the article and thinks that is an idiot. Anyone who does read or just bandwagons on the idea and thinks OKC is racist is also an idiot.

That said, the media calling OKC racist or isolationist isn't the worst in the world, it will blow over by the finals. I'm from Detroit, you can imagine the worse and more economically damaging things said about my hometown.

 @Keith00  @KellOne  @todayisbananas The national media will spin this to the point of OKC being a racist, hillbilly, isolationist community that wants nothing to do with people that aren't their own.

 @todayisbananas I'm not afraid to say I listen to some of his raps but at the same time.....he was going there to cheer on the Spurs. He even admitted as much. A guy worked his ass off to secure those court side seats and is most likely a Thunder fan and Weezy wants to get them so he can rally against OKC? No thanks.

He also said Miami was much more welcoming and he could hang out with Bron and the likes. A bandwagoner like him is perfect for Miami so maybe he should just get ready for that Game 5.

Lost Ones

 @C-Wil  @todayisbananas I dont think he was going to the game to cheer against the thunder, the organization turned him away and that was his reply. I dont really look at him as a fan of any team *shrugs*

 @KayDee

lil Wayne is not representative of black people, KD, Harden and Westbrook are.  You think those guys can't get seats at any event in OKC for the rest of their lives, you're fooling yourself.  We aren't racist, we just don't like Lil Wayne. Plus, he dissed Jay-Z, a known NBA owner.  We'd give Jay-Z seats but Lil Wayne is just not a big enough star round here.  He's small time in OKC.

Lost Ones

@KayDee @FF_pickups Maynor has sleeves, KD has tattoo's all over his back, Harden has some. Perkins has them on his arms too. I don't think that matters. Its more of we don't want head cases then "Thugs". Also OKC's underground hip hop movement is bigger then ever now. Don't spew trash when you have no clue of what you speak of.

 @FF_pickups It's more the "You ain't all that" bias we have.  Buy a ticket, walk in the same door and get to your seat like the rest of the humans do.  He wanted the show to be about him.  It's not that we don't like him, we just don't care about him one way or the other, although I'm sure his stock is sliding in okc's eyes since the lil baby started crying.
