Spurs vs. Thunder: Game 6 Pregame Primer

by Royce Young on June 6, 2012 at 4:52 pm 2,139 Comments

vs.

San Antonio Spurs (10-3, 4-2 road) vs. OKC Thunder (11-3, 7-0 home)

TV: TNT (Cox 31, HD 730)
Stream: Click here
Radio: WWLS The Sports Animal (98.1 FM, 640 AM, 97.1 FM Tulsa)
Time: 8:00 CT

Thunder lead series 3-2

View from the enemy: 48 Minutes of Hell

Please don’t let this be another learning experience.

I can just see it now. That’s the spin if Game 6 doesn’t go according to plan. Forget that noise. It’s time. No more learning. No more growing up. Just go win the damn game.

No real reason to go on and on about the stakes here. A win, and it’s a shot at glory. A loss, and if you think you’re panicked and nervous now, just wait. Game 7 on the road will be the sports equivalent of getting married and having your first child 400 times in one day.

It feels like this is the moment. So many things have happened during this postseason run, so many experiences. If the Thunder are truly going to break through and take that step, it needs to happen tonight. Otherwise, it might be back to lessons learned. The situation is ideal, the Thunder are at home and they have the Spurs reeling.

Time to close out and move on.

Tip at 8:00 CT. Go Finals.

When this series began, I thought the Thunder had a chance...but only if they took one of the first two in San Antonio. I really couldn't have imagined them winning four straight after losing the first two.  I'm kinda in awe of what they did.

@EVDebs I was thinking that OKC would have to win twice in SA to take the series....also in awe...very proud of these guys

@EVDebs How did they conquer the SA machine 4 in a row?  I saw it all and still amazed.  Also the whole playoff ascension over all the recent champions.  Just incredible!

The Finals will be hard, but I still expect that San Antonio is the best team we'll face in the playoffs this year.  What a gutty way to win a series!

Royce:  The Thunder appeared to be dead in the water, but as they often did this season, they never quit. Down 0-2, down 18. Didn't matter. These kids don't quit. And now they're on to the NBA Finals.

So who are people rooting for in the East? On the one hand, I just wanna see Miami lose. On the other, how great would it be to beat them ourselves?

@EVDebs Heat.  No greater story line or potential drama then KD versun LeBron

EVDebs

@Daniel Plainview For sure. But the Celts would continue the Thunder's march through the NBA's old guard. How sweet would it be to beat the Mavs, Lakers, Spurs, and Celtics en route to a championship?

@Daniel Plainview  @Jokazc People overrate bigs.  E.g. Oden over Durant
