Continuing a discussion on Russell Westbrook that Crow and I were having down in like... comment 500 or so, Russ's eFg% dips weirdly depending on when in the shot clock he's taking his shots. (Numbers referenced are from: http://bit.ly/NIBs4P ). From 0-10 seconds, his eFg% is .524 - presumably including fast break dunks and so giving it an understandable boost in his shot percentage. From 11-15 seconds, it's down to .438; from 16-20 seconds, it bounces back up to .513, and for 21+ seconds, it's an abysmal .381. I'm guessing for anything over 11 seconds, you're running a set play - or what passes for one in the Thunder offense. That last number is obviously the "Oh, crap, almost out of time" launch before the buzzer. The question I have is why the discrepancy between 11-15 and 16-20? Is that because he's getting it within the offense in the second and the first is him still breaking play? I don't know.

Confirmed: Hollis Thompson only got 75K of his first year contract guaranteed. He's no lock to make the roster, he'll have to beat out people in training camp. Or is the plan to eat the 75K and assign him to Tulsa, as is allowed with the final 3 cuts from training camp?

@DXL How does that work? Do you still own his rights if you pay him the 75k and then assign him to Tulsa or is he a free agent at that point and you're hoping he's interested in going. IF you bought him out could he then go to Europe, play for a year, come back and be a free agent over here? I ask because I wonder about Latavious Williams' situation.

@f5alcon @Tricia_status There are 10K guarantees. Garrett Siler got a 10K guarantee from the Suns on a 2 -year deal. Undrafted free agents have very little bargaining power.
The Hollis Thompson signing was wise. Either you get a 3-point specialist locked into a cheap deal for 3 years, or you blow $75K. There's no risk for the team.

@f5alcon @Old Man Game Right, he would be a free agent if he gets cut from training camp, but would be assignable to Tulsa if he agrees (and he's one of the last 3 cuts). It's not a worry, there's not that much NBA roster space for undrafted free agents. If Thompson gets cut his only practical options will be Tulsa or Europe.

How did you find Daily thunder: Once my best friend got me back into watching basketball and got me hooked on watching the thunder, i just had to find a place to vent or chat with other fans. I first tried espn, buuuuuuuut, as some of you already know, that place is FULL of trolls and well morons. I found thunder rumblings first and i liked darnells writing style. Alas, there werent a lot of people there or commenting. I believe i found a link to DT from one of you on there, i clicked away and it was like a magical portal opening up to a secret garden O___O . There were commenters, royces amazing write ups and bolts, full on scale color and beauty. Thus i put my flag down on a stake of DT land and have been here ever since. Have changed my name a few times but only when we crossed into livefyre and back to word press.
Birthday: July 9, a kajillion years ago.
