James Harden and Kevin Love are on a boat, Westbrook in a canoe

by Royce Young on August 16, 2012 at 3:48 pm 91 Comments

Another new Foot Locker commercial, this one featuring Chris Bosh, Russell Westbrook in a blow-up canoe,  and Kevin Love and James Harden on a blow-up yacht that took ’bout six years to inflate. Two-for-two, Foot Locker.

@alvarex in his defense the next center picked was byron mullens haha.

But yea that was bad.

Side note: Sergio Llull, the more than decent guard from spain? Drafted by the nuggets 34th in 09...with our pick :(

There is nothing more fun than tooking at old drafts and complaining about what we should have done in hindsight

I respect the fact that everyone needs to make a living, but Royce, read the OU preview currently on the CBS sports front page & say that's a site you're proud to be associated with. Two obvious mistakes (Saunders eligibility status, Whaley's injury) & numerous oversights. Bush league.

good article by Zach Lowe on the good and bad post players in the league over the last 2 years

here's the part on KD

"Also improving incrementally: Kevin Durant. He shot 38 percent on post-ups in 2010-11 and devoted a small number, 6.2 percent, of the possessions he finished to post-up plays. That spiked to 10.4 percent last season, and Durant shot a solid 44 percent on his post-up chances. He ranked 20th in points per possession from the post, and if he continues to hone a Dirk Nowitzki-style foul line/elbow post game, the league is in serious trouble."

@OBoymuzik Was honestly expecting perk to get the dubious distinction of worst post up player due to his insanely high turnover rate and his insanely low fg percentage. Maybe he didn't meet the qualifiers for that article?

@OBoymuzik his length and wingspan is better than most of 3 or 4 players in this league. If he can improve his post-up skill to Kobe's level, his stat and offense of thunder can get much benefit

Sitting here watching this ESPN 30 for 30 "Once Brothers" on Netflix about Vlade Divac, Drazen Petrovic, Toni Kukoc and the Serbian/Croatian war. A question occurs to me, Whatever happened to the Croatian national team? They used to be one of the best teams internationally and now you don't hear much from them.  That's seems to be the difference between our team and the rest of the world. A country here and there will get a few good players and compete for a while but once those guys are gone they fall off. Whereas the U.S. just reloads and keeps going. It'll be interesting to see what happens to the Spanish team once the Gasols careers end.

@skyline We sort of took if for granted for a while and didn't play as hard as we could or send our best players but there was never any doubt who actually had the best talent in the world. It was just all about getting our "A" talent interested in playing.

I enjoyed The Descendants. With me coming from a dysfunctional family--it hit me hard at several points in the movie. The George Clooney character turned out to be a really good guy--I thought. I liked the way the movie ended with Clooney and his two daughters sitting on the couch and eating ice cream. You had the feeling they were going to work things out.

Long ago--I used to think Clooney and Brad Pitt were just beefcake pretty boys, but not so anymore. They're two of my favorite actors.

Sometime in 2011 as it was up for Best Picture last time--and should've won!  It was excellent, really.  The Hawai'i post earlier made me think of it . . . there's a conflict between the temptation to sell/profit greatly from some long-held family land and the desire to preserve the land and what it stands for.

@Tricia_Status what's funny is when me and my bro go to a shop/store they will offer "farang" prices (farang means foreigner) .  Which is like 3 times higher than what it should be. When my bro breaks out the fluent Thai they come down REAL quickly.  Like in seconds quickly.  There are lots of farang living in Thailand, mostly old dudes who are after the young girls or ladyboys.. They also don't bother learning the language for the most part.

Spelling of state name

A somewhat divisive political issue arose when the constitution of the state of Hawaii added Hawaiian as a second official state language: the exact spelling of the state's name, which in the islands' language is Hawai'i (the apostrophe marking a Hawaiian consonant, a cut-off of breath before the final i). In the Hawaii Admission Act that granted Hawaiian statehood, the federal government recognized Hawaii to be the official state name. Official government publications, as well as department and office titles, use the traditional Hawaiian spelling, with no symbols for glottal stops or vowel length.[10] In contrast, some private entities, including a local newspaper, do use such symbols.

Straight from the source... ya'know - Wikipedia!
