Regarding the what each player should work on question posed by @BallSoHarden, here's my thinking. We had a top 3 offense last season running mostly isos. Simply incorporating a cohesive offensive strategy will go a long way towards maintaining/improving on that stat. Where we were deficient in every position was defensively. KD and Russ both showed capability at defending, so asking them for a more consistent effort level seems the key to improving in this area. The other three seemed pretty similarly obvious. We don't need to make things that more complicated/involved offensively. But if we want to win a title, we need to make good defense a habit, rather than the exception.
Good point. This is, however, a vague area. You can't really say the offensive 'strategy" will improve. Brooks tends to stick with what is working and what we did last year obviously worked until the finals. I don't see him incorporating anything noticeably new. Defense can be coached or "emphasized" but wouldn't you say the majority will be on effort (once again)?
@BallSoHarden While true, I remember at the start of the season last year that the whole talk was about how we were unable to put into place any offensive sets and barely put into place a defense. If you notice, when we had practice time, we started to put in some plays (like that ungodly play KD, James and Russ were in the semi's... Just try and stop them!). I can't help but hope that we're going to at least try and put some sets that work towards our advantages in. Even if only a few so that we can try and kickstart things when the whole Iso thing cools off.
@ou_sas @BallSoHarden
Well said. Simple, yet profound.

Sullinger or just quite funny video??
@Jokazc
Seen it, but it's still funny. I was hoping Fisher would inadvertently throw an elbow.
Well, at least we know Russ won't have to work on his glasses game for the upcoming season:

In a short answer....what 1 thing do you each player needs to work on (i'll leave it at 5 players)?
1. RW
2. KD
3. Harden
4. Ibaka
5. Perk
@BallSoHarden russ- passing. KD-strength/post. harden- midrange. Ibaka- post. perk- fitness/rebounding
@BallSoHarden
1- ball control or defensive effort
2-defensive effort
3-be in shape when season starts
4-Rebounding
5-defense on not only howard and bynum
@BallSoHarden agree with all of the above...but also honey badger(my favorite thunde) needs to work on his shooting%...needs to be closer to 50% atleast
@okcprophetic @BallSoHarden http://bkref.com/tiny/K9Usc A list of all of the guards (either pg or sg) who had a better than .45 fg% last season. There were 4 guards total who had a better than 50% fg%. And only one who played more than 100%. Improve his shooting percentage? Sure. But up to 50%? That might take more than a season, if it's doable at all.
@okcprophetic @ou_sas He's already averaging about 8-9... I'd be happy in the 10.5-11.5 range. We don't need too much more offense from him, but if a few of Perk's touches went Ibaka's way or he consistently plays the minutes his salary demands, then that should happen naturally. But being able to consistently have 4 players who can consistently go for double digits would be nice, even if KD, Russ and Harden still carry the bulk of the load.
@ou_sas @BallSoHarden. ibaka will be involved in the offense more this season for sure...how much points you think he will average this season?
@ou_sas @BallSoHarden. ibaka will be involved in the offense this season for sure...how points you think he will average this season?
@okcprophetic @ou_sas @BallSoHarden He had one perfect game. His fg% from last year during the regular season though was .540... so not bad. But not perfect.
@ou_sas @BallSoHarden well, atleast we have someone who shoots 100% from the field...just ask iblocka
@BallSoHarden
1. shooting
2. defense
3. defense
4. catching the ball
5. catching the ball
For me...
1. RW - body/ball control when driving (it would be decreased turnovers but not sure how you can work on that in the offseason)
2. KD - strength (and defense)
3. Harden - mid-range
4. Ibaka - improved post-up (and off. rebounding)
5. Perk - improved post-up (and off. rebounding)
@BallSoHarden
1. Defensive Effort
2. Defensive
3. Defensive Effort
4. On-ball Defense
5. Defensive Rebounding
@BallSoHarden lebrick, prince james, the frozen one...whatever you want to call him, is a great defender ofcourse but pj111 gonna atleast make hom work a lil while the durantula get a breather then to come put the water on the "frozen one" and finish him off
@BallSoHarden @ou_sas
Mentally working on consistency of effort during the offseason . . . He could watch film of LeBron and company celebrating after the finals. I bet Crow would agree. :)
Eh, I dunno. Lebron did it pretty consistently. Every game for all season? Def not. I do think the effort more consistently is reasonable.
@ou_sas @BallSoHarden no player can't keep up that intensity for every positions..rember they're not engines, and even engines need brakes too cuz it'll get too hot and explode :)
Yea, definitely. Just interested to see what these guys are working on. We saw last year when several players came in and you could tell immediately what they had worked on (i.e Harden 3 pt shooting, RW pull-up jumper, Ibaka/Collison mid-range).
@BallSoHarden Agree. We saw v. Tony Parker that he can play great denial style defense and when he's focused pretty good man defense. That's all effort. He can do it, he just has to be consistent in trying.
@ou_sas Defernsive effort for Russ is interesting. He doesnt give full effort every game but when he does (i.e Olympics) he's a beast. Effort isnt really something you can work on in the offseason, it's more mental.
Did no-one see when I asked for not that many more comments?
#andstopusingmyfriggenmemeguys
@cleandoe Well, I didn't make too many more comments.
Everyone else though... XD
DOES THIS ARTICLE MAKE SENSE? http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/1336441-breaking-down-the-blueprint-to-defend-the-new-look-la-lakers
@okcprophetic it is from bleacher report so no just based on who wrote it.
@f5alcon i know bleacher report is not always accurate but sometimes they actually make sense, did you read the article tho?
@f5alcon agree with you on their bench... but doesn't need to play hack of howard because we're better than that...leave hack of Howard to teams like nuggets and so on, furthermore ...remember, garnett taught perkins very well from his days in boston how to D-up D12
@okcprophetic Yeah I did, about half the points are valid, like getting in transition against them. It also seems to miss some ways to beat them, even with jamison their bench is weak, gotta score as much as possible when howard is out. Also can play hack a howard

THIS IS THE YEAR OF REDEMPTION! THE PROMISED YEAR!
@DustinMcWilliams and last season was the end of the world to some mayans, mayan interpreters and some basketball fans.
@Crow @DustinMcWilliams That's actually not true. It was proven the Mayan calendar does in fact go further than 2012. http://www.history.com/news/ancient-maya-calendar-calculations-found-on-dwelling-walls
@DustinMcWilliams @Crow @DennisBerry Whatever the "end" of the mayan calendar means... Belize is looking to cash in on apocalyptic tourism this december!
http://youtu.be/4DDaxo2kzUk
@Crow @DennisBerry I hate associating us with Miami, but we just need to follow their suit for revenge, and win a title. After that, I predict the OKC-Miami rivalry will be sung about for decades.
@DennisBerry @DustinMcWilliams that is why i said "some" mayans and "some" mayan interpreters but maybe i could have phrased it differently. i just mentioned as a passing reference for a light comment.
i heard the proper interpretation is that it is just the end of a big cycle
@DustinMcWilliams the throne room colors often change in a year but about half the time they stay the same for year 2.
