John Hollinger of ESPN.com with must-read Thunder player profiles: “Defensively, Westbrook has the talent to be awesome, but in reality is pretty average. Synergy Stats rated him the worst defender on the team and decidedly below the norm for his position; the Thunder weren’t any better or worse with him on the court defensively, and opposing point guards had a 15.7 player efficiency rating against him, according to 82games.com. Westbrook is actually too aggressive for his own good at this end, often running himself out of position and overgambling, offsetting his advantages in size, quickness and athleticism.”
The Lost Ogle on the Thunder hiring Sebastian Pruiti: “I like this hire for a couple of reasons. For one, it’s cool to see a blogger get recognized for his work and get real job. Sure, Pruiti also doubled as an assistant coach for the Ft. Wayne Mad Antz of the NBADL, but I really doubt working for a sports team that spells ants with a “Z” helped him get this job. Also, this hire confirms what we’ve long suspected: Sam Presti is a cool-ass nerd who reads blogs. In fact, I’ll bet Sam Presti is reading this right now. And I bet he’s now creeped out and blushing. And I’ll bet he’s now clearing his search history and about to close his internet browser.”
Metta World Peace wants the Lakers to go 73-9. Okay.
Dan McCarney of the San Antonio News-Express: “The Thunder did everything the old-fashioned way: i.e. they actually drafted and developed their key players, instead of poaching free agents and disgruntled superstars to form one of the so-called “Super Teams” that whipped so many into a frenzy. (Think Miami and the Lakers.) And yet they might not be able to reap the full benefits of their ingenuity should Harden walk. If so, that would seem to be a classic case of unintended consequences for a new set of rules that were supposed to help, not hurt, small-market franchises.”
Rip City Project on the Northwest: “The Thunder are the clear-cut front-runners in the Northwest. Boasting four Olympic superstars (Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Spain’s Serge Ibaka), OKC is most likely to face off against the new-look Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals this season. And if they can get Perry Jones III motivated to play ball, it could be a long season for the rest of the NBA.”
Blake Griffin: “I think there’s a lot of tough teams in the Western Conference. There’s one right here (in Oklahoma City) that the Lakers have to get over,” Griffin said. “The Spurs have been a good team for the past 500 years. And I think we’re preparing for that. So that’s kind of what you expect people to do. You expect them to hand out the trophy in the middle of the summer. So we’re not worried about that. We’re not worried about just the Lakers.”

Sad i wasnt here when this thread was hot. I have choice words for mr Hollinger

Lakers could win 73 games if...
Jamison turns into an efficient scorer
Dwight Howard is healthy all season
Nash turns into Nash of 06-07
Kobe stops being a ball hog
Lakers actually utilize Pau Gasol
and finally... Phil Jackson comes back from retirement
@EatSleepThunder totally forgot about jamison...dear lord lolllll
@EatSleepThunder I doubt howard, nash or kobe play more than 73 each the whole season.
@EatSleepThunder So basically not going to happen
@OkcBaby Who knows, maybe it will...
bad Harden pics

Sure its a year away, but assuming we resign Harden, we should go big man in next years draft. There's a lot of depth in that area.
@dancassidy35/FreeFezzyFel from GSW!!! is there? who do you like? my first impression was that next season's draft was terrible.
@Crow Though I would honestly rather have Presti use 2013 pick to move up in 2014 draft (stacked, has '84/'03 potential imo)
@Crow That's more or accurate. However, compared to the other positions in next years draft, there are a plethora of bigs.
@dancassidy35/FreeFezzyFel from GSW!!! Intersting. Wait n see what he does playing over here.
@Crow I like him a lot from reading and watching light footage. I want to actually watch Florida before I'm certain.
@dancassidy35/FreeFezzyFel from GSW!!! Maybe I'll like some guys after I read & see more.
Anybody know & like Patric Young?
@Crow Haven't seen him play. Definitely intrigued by Steven Adams, but I fear hes almost certainly a mid-late lottery
@dancassidy35/FreeFezzyFel from GSW!!! Anybody seen Mike Moser play?
@dancassidy35/FreeFezzyFel from GSW!!! i do see that half of the draftexpress mockdraft first round are big men.
@dancassidy35/FreeFezzyFel from GSW!!! outside the top 3-4 guys.
@dancassidy35/FreeFezzyFel from GSW!!! Presti: We must prepare for draft night. Brooksie: Why? What are we going to do draft night? Presti: The same thing we do every draft, Brooksie- try to get a big man in the draft!

@ou_sas @dancassidy35/FreeFezzyFel from GSW!!!
Presti's actual draft results average 6-9+.
@ou_sas @dancassidy35/FreeFezzyFel from GSW!!! But wait!

I don't know if anyone else loved this commercial as much I did when I saw it on Christmas, but I feel we could use a break from Harden watch

@dancassidy35/FreeFezzyFel from GSW!!! One of my favorites.
Feliz cumpleaños Serge Ibaka!! Has crecido mucho desde que ha entrado en la nba. Usted también ha ganado un montón de fans (y no sólo a causa de sus fotos sin camisa) *tos tos thunderchick*
(Happy Birthday Serge Ibaka! You've grown a lot since he entered the NBA. You've also earned a lot of fans (and not just because of your shirtless pictures) *cough cough thunderchick*)
Alos of note. You have the same birthday as the world famous ThunderBelize.
Starting Max for Harden is right around 15 million. Doubt Harden takes a Ibaka contract of 12.25 milli. If Harden does go for max that means Thunder will get slapped with a 32 milli bill. Doubt it happens. Especially with teams like Mavs, Rockets and Suns interested
@OkcBaby This is incorrect.
See Eric Gordon's recently signed max deal. Harden's theoretical deal would be slightly different, but the point stands: http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/gordoer01.html
@OkcBaby how are you getting a 32 million bill? 62 million now+15 million harden is only 7 million over tax line 22 million bill.
@f5alcon @OkcBaby I thought the starting max was only 13.5 mil...
The most likely projection for 13-14 max is about 14.2 mil.
@OkcBaby @ou_sas @f5alcon Only if we resign Maynor for like 5 mil. And the chance of Harden getting 15 mil are about 1%, meaning it is possible but really not.
@ou_sas @f5alcon If harden gets the 15 we would be right around 90 million filling out our roster and keeping young players
@OkcBaby @f5alcon https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgbOTqYzmgHidE8xTlBZR2NqWDVXZWN0dXdDdGR4UlE#gid=13
I know about the tax differential. However, even if he signs for 15 mil, as you suggest, that still only puts us at 13 mil over, which would be 25 mil of tax. Not 32.
@ou_sas @f5alcon the tax goes up more after every 5 million
@ou_sas@f5alcon
ou_sas f5alcon The team minus harden is closer to 63 milli. No harden could get max of 15
How much extra mula do we need to get Harden max?
@OkcBaby The owners can either pay Harden the max or not do it and be like 0.03% richer.
@OkcBaby i need a million to give it my blessing
@OkcBaby i'd endorse extending maynor for $75,000.
@OkcBaby i'd do a good job.
@OkcBaby what? did i overprice or underpromise?
@OkcBaby i'd write 1000 words on why aldrich should start 3 preseason games for 39.99.
@Crow Good luck with that
If Maynor stayed healthy last year. We wouldnt even be discussing Hardens contract.
@OkcBaby i honestly think we would of had the 1st seed if we had maynor all year. i remember losing to the rockets 2times by literally 1 point each game. bs. god how different would the playoffs of been if we kept the 1st.
@OkcBaby How so? because maynor would average 50/20/30?
@FREE_COLE @OkcBaby if you played him against a typical high school team or a bad wnba team.
@FREE_COLE No, Harden would have been signed. PS Cole World would have broke the rotation:)
@FREE_COLE I was joking
@OkcBaby not really. coach liked nazr.
@FREE_COLE no no no your thinking of what skip bayless wants KD to do..silly cole :P
