Not playing tonight: James Harden, Thabo Sefolosha and Kendrick Perkins. Expected to play: Daniel Orton. So that should be interesting.
Also, Scott Brooks says Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook will play more minutes.
Like the first two games, Cole Aldrich is certainly something to watch, but I’m very interested in Orton. Does he have a chance at the 15th spot? Can he make more of an impact than Hasheem Thabeet? This is his first real chance and he needs to perform.

@shiki @Jooseppi I watched the Nets first home game against blah blah the other day, Blatche looked active and invested but a bit clumsy and couldn't finish around the rim at all. Is he looking better today?
I couldn't remember what he was asking from the Wizards in terms of contract but whatever it was, they were smart not to give it to him regardless. Oh yeah, they were playing the Wizards, explains the motivation......

We joke around a lot but seriously, we have to get Lazar off this team. Liggins, Rautins and Orton all showed they are more valuable to this team than him and yet his spot is guaranteed and at least 2 or possibly all of those guys are getting cuts. That's not right.
@Old Man Game Lazar may be valuable in practice. Rautins I'm not sold on from one preseason game against the Bobcats, he career 37.4% 3pt shooter in college I question how deadly that shot is. Orton again, one game against the Bobcats. Lazar isn't good on the court but the team's not going to eat his salary for two guys who had one good preseason game/
@justin_mia @Old Man Game If you mean valuable for chasing balls then yes. He couldn't even guard Gordon Hayward. It's not like GH is super athletic. I agree on not over reacting to a preseason game, but Liggins has already had two good preseason games and that fills up the roster right there.

@Old Man Game @justin_mia @senseandsenescence Presti has wanted a shot at Thabeet ever since he got in the league and whats happened since probably hasn't change his mind especially because Memphis and Houston are terrible at developing talent and he was only in Portland a few months.
@Old Man Game @senseandsenescence In retrospect it may not have been a smart signing but he was still the #2 pick in the draft and Presti like reclamation projects. I don't think it's a huge deal since it's the end of the bench and there are likely four bigs (plus PF KD) ahead of that spot on the roster already.

@justin_mia @senseandsenescence On Thabeet, Presti really got seduced by the 7'3" stat and wasn't thinking clearly. You have to think, this guy had already been on three other teams. Three sets of coaches and front offices had gotten a look at him up close. Gotten to see him everyday in practice and they all one by one let him go. You have to ask yourself, did they let him go because they just can't see the greatness? ALL of them? Or did they let him go because there is no greatness to see?
@Old Man Game @senseandsenescence just shots in the dark I'd guess, getting players in to see what they can do. Thabeet was a swing for the fences, hit or miss signing. I see the point in acquisitions like that, it's easy to apply hindsight to those acquisitions. If we could wait until after preseason to choose who to fill the roster with, I bet it'd be a lot easier to pick the more productive bench warmers.

@justin_mia @senseandsenescence Right. Liggins for the open spot. My point is I wish there was another open spot. We've got Lazar and Thabeet on guaranteed deals and I don't see the point in ether one of them.
@senseandsenescence @Old Man Game I would give the roster spot to Liggins I agree with that, he seems interesting and like he'd be a good practice player also.
@justin_mia Versus Lazar though. C'mon. Did you watch him tonight? He's got a quick release and is a pure shooter. That's value. Lazar is a net negative to this team.

@Old Man Game We're arguing over 12th men here. How much value to the team will it realistically have to replace Lazar with, say, Rautins? Probably very little since Cook is likely better than Rautins, who wouldn't play except for injuries. It's certainly not worth eating the value of Lazar's contract to open the roster spot.

Who was stressing over that? We usually went small when KD was out of the game with the 3 guard lineup, this did reasonably well the whole year, mostly Cook-Harden-Jackson, Cook-Harden-Fisher. Of course, Cook-Harden-Maynor did well the year before. So in a 10-man rotation that we had going on, Cook was the ipso-facto backup to Durant, and it was never a huge issue IMO... Jones could be an interesting change from the 3 guard philosophy, though.
