What if Thabo ends up being benched in place of Martin? A part of me feels like Brooks should go on and make that happen. Don't know if he will though. Despite popular belief, I don't think Russ "doesn't want to pass to K-Mart". He showed back to back possessions last night where Martin was the first person he passed to.
@novelisticbee0 I think some sort of change is definitely in order, but I don't think Brooks will do it. It would be nice to see Thabo come off the bench and completely disrupt the passing lanes of the other team's bench
@FreeFezzyFel That's what's so frustrating about Brooks. I wonder if any of the assistant coaches have stepped to him and suggested some of this stuff. If it's this obvious to fans, why does it seem like it ISN'T for the coaches? Lol
Definitely not going for doom and gloom here, just extreme hypothetical.
If the team did bad enough this season, would Presti fire Brooks? How bad is bad?
Just curious as to opinions, I'm 99% sure it won't happen.
My main issues with Brooks revolve around his rotations and his tactics.
1. He is much too inflexible with his rotations. The opposing teams lineup doesn't seem to matter to him at all. He's unwilling to mix it up or alter his plans.
2. The team doesn't seem to have any kind of coherency offensive/defensive scheme. My brother (a non-fan) watched the playoffs with me last year and we joked that the Thunder's offense was "iso, iso, iso, shoot." But that legitimately seems to be what it is.
@FreeFezzyFel 1. Yeah, that's extremely annoying when you can look at the other team's starting five and know that the lineup Brooks comes out with mostly likely won't hold up. It makes me wonder what made him switch it up a little in the Spurs series, then do nothing to change against the Heat when he needed to.
2. It's like he knows that Perk, Ibaka, and Thabo aren't the best at making buckets, so he just tells Russ and KD to go two man game. Which is dumb, because then you have scenarios like the last few games where people blame Russ (somewhat justifiable). Now you have Russ passing to KD when he has a good shot, but KD decides to pass the Perk/Ibaka, which ends in a turnover. Lol It's crazy.
@FreeFezzyFel I've been thinking that too. I forget who said it in the other thread, but I agree with them when they said Brooks might not be the coach to get them over the hump. Especially when it comes to teams like Miami, who we're sure to face in Finals.
A part of me feels like Brooks just let's them do it themselves instead of laying down the law (ie. playing Perk despite having a tweaked ankle/keeping him in so many minutes).
I wish i was a coach, especially after reading about Lamb's 3 from the Thunder logo during shoot around last night. You can't let your scorers rot on the bench and keep playing players that aren't helping the team half the time.
@FreeFezzyFel/IHateBrookies I'd say if we miss the playoffs, it's a sure bet. If we're a first round bounce to someone not the Lakers, it's probable. Second round bounce... toss up.
