Mark Cuban on if the NBA has missed Seattle: “I don’t think it’s a fair assessment. Obviously Oklahoma City’s done a great job, and so when I say I’m pro-Seattle, it doesn’t mean I’m anti-Oklahoma City. In reality, among our small-market teams they’ve probably done the best. And so as much as people don’t really like Clay, Clay has done a good job down there. … Based on where we are, there are teams that would pop into consideration.”
BrewHoop breaks down KD vs. LRMAM: “By crowding Durant and staying physical with him — while still having the quickness and length to effectively challenge shots and shut down driving lanes — LRMAM forces KD into tough situations on the perimeter. The choices for Durant are often whittled down to: (1) give the ball up, (2) take a contested jumper or (3) try to force a drive into the paint. The degree of difficulty imposed by Luc leads to more turnovers and less free throw attempts for Durant.”
KD got caught on the “Live Orange” cam.
Kicks on Fire’s NBA preview of the Thunder: “Harden also has a huge decision to make on the sneaker front as well. Despite starring in a hilarious Foot Locker commercial with Russell Westbrook in Nike gear, Harden is in a similar middling situation with the swoosh. If he stays in OKC and rocks Nike for the rest of his career, he will be a cult hero but never be considered the man. But if he leaves the Thunder and Nike for the big bucks elsewhere, he runs the risk of becoming the next Joe Johnson.”
KD says he wants to be more “mean.” Things he says he does wrong: He leaves his clothes on the floor and leaves juice on the table. What a butt.
Side parts are cool in the NBA right now.
Jenni Carlson: “So, the question is this — is Harden ready to leave all this? That is the question Harden must ask and answer in these contract negotiations. Is he ready to leave a still youthful but supremely talented team that went to the NBA Finals last season? Ready to leave a nucleus that only seems to get better? Ready to leave a franchise that has built a culture that players rave about? Sure didn’t sound like it Monday.”
Darnell Mayberry: “If you buy what James Harden is selling, he won’t be going anywhere. The reigning Sixth Man of the Year spent the majority of his media day session with reporters Monday insisting he still wants to be a member of the Oklahoma City Thunder and expressing confidence that it’s only a matter of time before his highly anticipated contract extension gets ironed out.”
KD’s new shoe is very colorful.
Westbrook and Harden talking about their extensions.
Nick Collison’s stance on the flopping rules: “We’ll see how it plays out. I’m not really sure how it’s going to work. I think it’s something the league feels like they need to do something about, but they’re not sure exactly the best way to do it. I guess, until I hear what the system is going to be and what exactly is going to define a flop, I don’t really know exactly what to say about it… Some of them you get pretty hard, others not as hard. So I’m definitely interested, curious to see how they regulate it.”

Just in case you didn't know.

"Super long session by the Thunder on the first day of practice. Was told no two-a-days this year. Might explain it. But this is a marathon."
get it done, team.
I wonder what is considered "super long"....
@BallSoHarden 12 inches?
@BallSoHarden greg oden?
@BallSoHarden Suicides, followed by full practice, followed by 20 minutes 5 on 5, followed by more suicides.
Probably not, but might not be as far off the truth as you'd think.
I would think a super long basketball practice would be upwards of 2 hours that includes several drills, suicides and scrimmage. I have seem numerous other reports of other teams practices as being "super intense"..however, nothing about duration.
@OBoymuzik good, brooks must be mad about not winning the title.
Snippets from all the bench guys here...

NBA 2k13 was release today, but it won't be released digitally for Steam (PC) until the 16th. This makes me a sad, sad PC player.
I'm contemplating getting the PS3 version to play for 2 weeks, then getting the superior (IMO) PC version in 2 weeks (or just getting the boxed version of PC today)....I think I have a problem.
@alvarex What are the differences between the two?
@f5alcon The PS3 version will probably have better online and that all-star weekend, but the power of the PC makes such a difference it's staggering. Game looks better, runs faster, and the load times are nearly non-existent. Waiting 12+ seconds to load a drill on PS3 vs not waiting on PC makes a huge difference to me. And siming a full season in Association mode is painful on PS3, but really quick on PC...etc.
If you're asking Box VS Digital download for PC, I just like having all my games listed in Steam so I don't have to keep track of boxes. I'm anal like that :)
@f5alcon @alvarex You are forgetting the most important addition to this years version:
Justin Beiber
@alvarex i was asking betwen pc and console, as I have always gotten 360 version, but might switch to pc
BOOM. Tickets to opening day vs. Portland. Can it be November 2nd yet? I NEED MY THUNDER FIX
good job Oklahoman

Nike and Jordan are different brands and have different clients. "Bloggers" claimed that he was deciding between Adidas and Jordan, which is true.
@OBoymuzik Different brands but same company. It's probable that Nike decided to promote Westbrook from a secondary Nike guy to a primary Jordan guy. Keep him in the family, give him the bigger deal he was probably looking for while also dealing with the tricky Durant / Westbrook Nike situation.
I had a nightmare last night that Jeff Van Gundy agreed to become the Bobcats head coach. It was awful. I would miss him announcing way too much.
The new flopping will be getting your opponent to flop.

@MisterJohnsonOKC @BallSoHarden I don't think the rules are going to be that effective. I think this will be similar to a couple of years back with they expanded the refs ability to give a technical. For the first few months there will be some fines but eventually it'll go back to normal.
@MisterJohnsonOKC @BallSoHarden It also annoys me in that it essentially lets the refs off the hook for calling the fouls. If they really want to stop flopping, then stop blowing the whistle.
Because I'm bored at work and flopping is on everyone's minds. Here is my favorite flop of all time. Funniest part is the ref doesn't even notice.

@MisterJohnsonOKC @Zach99 One of my favorites:

I think any flop where someone falls down without getting touched should require that player to play the next game wearing a giant fro wig, knee-high socks, and Rambis-style eyewear.

@thanksOKCThunder Problem #1. Living in Texas.
Texas Forever

@MisterJohnsonOKC @BallSoHarden good one. that renown OU wit.
@action jack$on @MisterJohnsonOKC @BallSoHarden I think most people are able to seperate their college team from their NBA team. I'm sure there are plenty of Longhorn fans that love having Demarrco Murray on the cowboys but still hate Oklahoma
@MisterJohnsonOKC @action jack$on @BallSoHarden whatever helps you sleep at night
@BallSoHarden Baylor? RG3! RG3!
@BallSoHarden The U of, the State of... same, same.
@BallSoHarden I unfortunately live in Texas as well
So, apparently no one has seen Friday Night Lights.
I hate when people say they like Texas and others associate the term with a university football program.
@MisterJohnsonOKC @BallSoHarden kevin durant says hi
@BallSoHarden No more questions for you, bro.
"Dear James: It's me again. Clock's ticking - 30 days until you turn into a pumpkin of epic proportion, depending on your decision (damn myself for giving you free will). I heard your comments yesterday and expect you to stick by them. Glad to hear you've been asking Russell for advice. What a nice young man. That reminds me - I need to cure his color blindness one of these days. Anyway, here's my advice - Go see Mr. Presti, sign a reasonable extension to keep playing for these nice folks, then get your ass in the gym and get busy. Bless you."
this was the best one
Who all bought tickets this morning? What games? I got four for the Lakers game on Dec. 7.
@ThunderFlyboy I got 4 for the Bulls game in February. Tried for a couple cheap tickets for Dec. 7th, but no luck.
Jeff Van Gundy is going to love this http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/50119/the-ref-made-me-flop
@OBoymuzik The thing is tho, if you don't go down, that means you had good defensive position and made the shot really, really tough. IE, you played great defense.
So no, I don't want to hear "you have to go down to get the call". The only reason a flop is logical is that it will help prevent injury. I have a feeling we'll see more injuries now that players aren't going to "lean away" from contact to help slow down the force delivered by the offensive player.
@OBoymuzik The refs just need to call it differently, the problem with flopping is more when parker pretended to get hit in the mouth in the last playoffs
Hope this doesn't affect Scotty's coaching:
