Happy Saturday. Thank you for your support of Daily Thunder. Onward.
The present piece in the James Harden trade was Kevin Martin. Clearly a gifted, efficient scorer that can fill it up with 30 points in a half. (Here’s a terrific breakdown from ESPN.com’s David Thorpe on Martin, a player he knows very well.) Not many are talking about the other piece in the deal though, 12th overall pick Jeremy Lamb. He’s unlikely to see a lot of immediate playing time with the Thunder, but he’s a talented young player that has a whole lot of offensive skill and a pretty tall ceiling. He could be a terrific young player, especially in the Thunder system that seems to develop players extremely well. So check out Draft Express’s breakdown video of him to get a little better feel on what he’s all about.

Just finishing this string letting you know that I'm a Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad man
@I'm_a_Baaaaaaaaaaaaaad_man Is Baaaaaaaad the New Beard?

Mike Brown admitted after a Friday night loss to the Clippers that his 0-3 Lakers badly need a win. For now, Kobe Bryant and company will have to pursue that elusive first W without starting point guard Steve Nash. The Lakers announced Saturday that Nash suffered a ”small non-displaced fracture in the head of his fibula” in his right leg and will miss at least a week before being re-examined. Nash suffered the lower leg injury, originally called a contusion, during a Wednesday night loss to the Trail Blazers in Portland. Nash did not play against the Clippers on Friday. Nash, 38, was acquired by the Lakers in a summer sign-and-trade with the Suns in exchange for two first-round picks, two second-round picks and cash considerations. Nash signed a three-year contract worth $27 million as part of the agreement. Brown’s Princeton offense was already coming under fire with Nash. Without the two-time MVP and eight-time All-Star, Brown is expected to start reserve Steve Blake and to use Darius Morris and Chris Duhon behind him. To say that going from Nash to Blake is a “downgrade” would be an understatement. Blake, 32, is a somewhat serviceable veteran with a very limited offense game; he is a low-risk, low-reward player content to move the ball around safely and shoot only if wide open.
@Lost Ones If they don't won 3 of the next 5, he's probably fired
Last year the Nets won Less games than the raptors, so the question we need to ask is this. Is getting Joe Johnson and Andre blanche better then getting Kyle Lowry and Jonas V.
Heres hoping Raps go to 0-2
@Lambchop NOooo0oo
They're good, I'm telling you
#notjustbecauseIplayforthemon2k13
@cleandoe @Lambchop Who are you playing in 2k13. Raps or Nets?
@jdstorm @Lambchop Hall of Fame
@cleandoe @Lambchop what difficulty do you play on
@jdstorm @Lambchop
Raptors :)
I look great in their jerseys
@Lambchop FInally. Something we can all get behind.
@Old Man Game Like J-Lo?
@Old Man Game J-Lo circa 1998?
Does ND get a controversial call in every game?
Kevin Martin leads the team in WS/48, Ibaka is last. He's in the negatives.
@justin_mia Mind doing a quick summary of what that means for us dumb folks?
Win Shares is a catch all calculation of how many 'wins' a player is worth. WS/48 normalizes it for minutes. Bill James made it up. Here's a long article about it if you're interested: http://www.basketball-reference.com/about/ws.html
@Lambchop @justin_mia
You're so nice.
@justin_mia For some reason, my use of "so" sounds condescending there. Thats was my intention
Should say Bill James made it up for baseball and it was ported to basketball on BBR.
Something like that,,yes. ESPN's trade machine bases those things on Hollinger's PER statistic, though.
None of this is gospel especially with only two games played.
@justin_mia So.. is this essentially trying to gauge a player's worth over the span of the season? For example how they make calculations on the ESPN trade machine that says Team A will win X more amount of games after a trade?
@justin_mia thanks. Your so resourceful
Hope so.
@justin_mia Ibaka is getting ready to break out. He's dipping before he takes off.
Bass, Terry, Green, Barbosa, Sullinger all probably below average defensive players. Pierce is hit or miss at this point, and Rondo can be also. Can Garnett carry this team defensively at this point in his career?
@justin_mia Not. At. All.
@justin_mia No. He can't.
I think Ainge went too far with the offensive alent. He's committed to playing Green in that second unit, and Sullinger probably has to play over Darko. Dunno what they can do except hope they pull it together on defense.
@justin_mia The Bench unit will get better when bradley gets back. But I'd switch it up. Start Sullinger over Bass. Then you limit the damage
Getting ready to start drinking mimosas in preparation for these college football games tonight. O State-K State, Alabama-LSU, and USC-Oregon will all be featured on our new 60" Samsung flat screen.Thinking maybe pizzza and chicken wings. I don't count last night's win over Portland as a signature win so the kelly blue Thunder flag has yet to to be hung this season. A win over pedestrian Atlanta won't get it there either.
@El Prez
And btw, El Prez, Tron shared your comments here (good stuff) and garnered about 9 likes for it. I think he owes you. :)
@El Prez We saw your comment on News OK Prez.
Boston last in opponent eFG so far.
Ive been coming here for three years. Am I the only one who has never been to "Welcome TO LOud City?"
@Lambchop Never heard of it
@Lambchop Went there once but it was dead.
@EternalThunder @Lambchop i remember 2 years ago when we played memphis, the memphis fans on their site were talking shit saying OMG thunder have no fans! NO ONES ON LOUD CITY lol..someone informed them that dailythunder is where the action is.
@Lambchop @Legendary_Dork @EternalThunder For the record, that was a fan post, written by a commenter. It was not an official article written by staff, or placed on the front page. It's essentially a glorified forum post.
@Old Man Game I think there's a grain of truth to what that commenter was observing, but I think he interpreted it the wrong way. Yes, Russ was trying too hard in Game 1. I assumed it was because he was coming from a mindset that it was him and KD against the league now that Harden was gone. As Kmart continues to hit shots, I expect Russ to see that passing to him is not the gamble that passing to Serge, Thabo, or Perk is. Russ will be fine.
Yeah. He deletes my comments whenever I bring it up. He's not a mean guy just kinda dopey.
@justin_mia I'm sure your talking about the jackass who refers to KD as a tall reggie milller?
Stiffs is a good website they jus thave one bad writer.
@EternalThunder @Legendary_Dork @Lambchop Yeah. Hard to be Hill Billies when most of it is as flat as a 4 x 8 sheet of plywood.
@Legendary_Dork @Lambchop the Denver Stiffs do that crap every game VS OKC. Calling us hillbillies and saying we don't have internet. LOL, it always amuses me that people from Colorado want to talk about hillbillies.
@H2H Hombre That's the worst I've ever seen on WTLC. Usually they're okay.
@Lambchop @Legendary_Dork @EternalThunder That article is so absurd it is like drama writing. No point or fact to it just speculation and drama stirring haha. Are they all like that on that site?
@Lambchop @Legendary_Dork @EternalThunder Holy shit, LOL at that comment.
@Legendary_Dork @EternalThunder @Lambchop It's all credit to Royce who makes sure rarely a day goes by without posting something, anything, Thunder related which drives page views. WTLC just deoesn't have that from what I've seen.
@Legendary_Dork @EternalThunder It has a beautiful lay out. http://www.welcometoloudcity.com/2012/11/2/3593418/westbrook-doesnt-seem-to-like-k-mart-threatened-by-him
@Lambchop i found daily thunder first so . your not the only one. i havent even thought about other sites, next to say darnells thunder rumblings.
