According to multiple reports, the Thunder and Blazers have agreed to a deal sending Eric Maynor to Portland. The Thunder will land a trade exception for Maynor (around $2.5 million), but no draft pick.
To complete the deal, the Thunder will receive the draft rights to Giorgios Printezis from the Blazers. (And yes, you can immediately forget that name now.)
After losing his backup job to Reggie Jackson 25 games into the season, Maynor was seeking a way out of OKC in order to play for a new contract as he’s going to be a restricted free agent this summer.
Here’s what a trade exception is if you’re wondering:
If a team trades away a player with a higher salary than the player they acquire in return , they receive what is called a trade exception. Teams with a trade exception have up to a year in which they can acquire more salary in other trades than they send away, as long as the difference in the deal is no more than what the initial exception was for. Having an exception is often useful in making a player-for-pick swap, since it’s sometimes hard to line up salaries.
The Thunder now have only two point guards on the roster, which is a bit scary heading into the postseason. But Russell Westbrook will play 45 minutes a game anyway, so it might not matter.
OKC had been said to be seeking a first-round pick in exchange for Maynor.

Great news for Maynor. More playing time and a chance to fill an obvious need for the Blazers.
Speaking of diamonds in the rough that Presiti pulls off each year, lets take a look at the fools gold as well. Two first round picks for Cole Aldridge, $40,000,000 for Perk which left no money for Harden, and missing on Larry Sanders at pick #15 while going after Cole. Larry was Maynors team mate at VCU so he was not unknown. The Thunder could have had Sanders and Harden but instead have Perk, a new back up point guard, and two less first round picks.
Jackson is more athletic and may have more potential but the record with Maynor as a backup was 21-4 till Xmas: 18-10 afterwards.
Believe in Presti I guess...

Can someone explain to me how Ronnie Brewer will help us??????
@GrapeNUTZ Career 49% shooter, 2-1 Assist/Turnover, can defend multiple positions.
@GrapeNUTZ Defense, slap the floor, Defense
@GrapeNUTZ He plays defense.
I'm grateful for the quality effort and play Maynor gave OkC, and I'm happy he can go somewhere where he'll have a chance to revive his career. Hopefully next year he'll feel stronger and more confident with the knee.
I'm also grateful that Jackson is now officially slotted in as the backup PG...the next step for his best growth is for Brooks to start giving him some run, maybe 5-6 minutes a game, with both Russ and KD, with Reggie at the PG and Russ playing off the ball.
@courtsenseI agree. People were gushing over Russ when he was playing off ball at the 2 guard spot during the All Star game.
Is that trade exception going to be used to pick up another first round pick other than Toronto's?
Possibly trading Lamb, Jones, Thabo, Perk, for another lottery pick to go after a Shabazz, Noel, Depo?
Brewer can't shoot right? Is it unreasonable to see russ-brewer-thabo-kd- Ibaka/perk lineups? would help some of the defensive problems of small ball. but if he cant shoot...tough to play him in those lineups tho he's good cutting.
I hope we got a washing machine in ala the Flint Tropics
What is up with all of these tiny trades. There was absolutely a TON of really tiny trades at the deadline even the Heat make a tiny trade. I have never saw this many tiny trades.
@MostJadedGamer I don't know what you're talking about, Giorgio Printezis seems like quite the blockbuster to me.
@MostJadedGamer it's hard to make big deals bc first round picks are extremely valuable in the new cba rules
Dangit.. I like Maynor.. :(
@loplopol But he was totally worthless to us. At least Brewer can be useful to us in the playoffs.
Royce Young @dailythunder
GIORGIO PRINTEZIS?!?!? NO WAY! RT @WojYahooNBA Blazers will send rights of Giorgio Printezis to the Thunder as part of the Eric Maynor deal.

So it took about 2 minutes for DT to declare Brewer the Lebron Stopper.
@anonymous12345 Get on board. Choo Choo.
@anonymous12345 No one is too high on Brewer.
Ken Berger @KBergCBS

Brewer was Top 10 in steal percentage from 2007-2011.
What's Brewer's contract?
@Fezzy 1 year at vet min
This is where someone posts a Brewer highlight reel.
@Iceberg Slim I stopped with those after I saw one for Lazar and thought he might contribute in a minor way
Portland just became championship contenders

@PdxBaby Please go to Blazers Edge with this name and post "Grasshoppers..."
@[censored] @PdxBaby don't forget the smiley at the end :)
I think Brewer is supposed to be LeBron defender.
So I guess this mean Perry and Lamb won't be freed huh?
For those of you still wondering what a Trade Exception is.... F5 and scroll up.
It's not that you shouldn't care, it's that the overreaction and sensationalism, even for online standards, is absurd here.
@ThunderStruck2412
Overreaction to overreaction is still overreaction.
Think about it.
@anonymous12345 @ThunderStruck2412^ that's deep.
Blazers will send the draft rights of Giorgio Printezis to the Thunder as part of the Eric Maynor deal, source tells Y!
@OBoy So we potentially do get a player back then. It was really weird seeing we had traded, and got no player or pick back.
@OBoy I'm a big Printezis fan. Watched him for years.
