Kendrick Perkins (knee) out tonight against Houston

by Royce Young on February 20, 2013 at 1:43 pm 448 Comments

Read into it what you will, but via Darnell Mayberry, Kendrick Perkins will sit out tonight’s game against the Rockets because of a sprained knee he suffered yesterday at practice.

With the trade deadline on Thursday, obviously this is a touch fishy. There’s an instinct to wonder if Perk’s absence tonight is part of a larger action. His name has come up in a few rumors, most recently with the Suns in a deal involving Marcin Gortat. Though that rumor has been almost entirely shot down.

That doesn’t mean there’s not something else happening. The Thunder don’t really have a history of holding players out before the deadline (see: Jeff Green) but things might’ve gotten a bit more interesting.

Without Perk, per Mayberry, Hasheem Thabeet is expected to start in his place tonight against Houston.

That ad for Eddie Money on this site is creeping me out.  One moar reason to go register with "Denverstiffs".

Oh, wait, I already registered a troll account with them. Nevermind.

I think getting another offensive wingman is just as important if not more important than the C position. I think Jordan Crawford would be a great addition and we could probably get him for pretty cheap. He has been squeezed from the rotation in DC.

 @MJOKC The thought of even acquiring him makes me want to quit thinking about trades until the deadline passes. It's just too good.

 @MJOKC

 i'm not going to complain about Perkins, but what we might possibly lose on defense we should make up for in offense.

I know people will say we have a historic offense this season, but not always against teams like the heat.  we need players on the floor who can put it in the basket consistently against them.  We don't need whoever is player center to score 10-15 points a night.  we just need them to have the capability to do it.

 hey i didn't say anything good about him either lol.  I'm neutral on the issues.  Trades are always exciting, but you never know exactly how they are going to work out.

Now---if you Trekkies pull off Gortat, Teague and O'Neal...for Perk, Lamb, Maynor and a first round pick.....I will be a big enough guy to say that's not a bad deal. Pull that one off and I'll be impressed all this chatter didn't go for naught.
