Nick Collison for GQ on his wood-grain mini van: “She had style. She had grace. She was a work of art. She dressed in navy with those rich mahogany sides. She had that shape I like with so much room in the back. We had some unforgettable nights. She even let my teammates come along for rides, because she understood “it ain’t no fun if the homies can’t come.” She was a 1990 Dodge Caravan and I loved her. The truth is, we were both young. We had our ups and downs. I still recall the night when, visiting friends at another school, her sliding door came off the hinges in my hand, and we had to drive 60 miles back home on the highway with no door. I still remember overhearing Drew Gooden tell a girl, “Yeah, I got a car… well I mean, its like all of ours. It’s the team van.” It was a crazy new time. We were just getting started when, tragically, her transmission went out the fall of my junior year. Eventually, I had to let her go. She was my first love.”
Matt Moore of CBSSports.com on OKC: “Like I said, they almost did enough to win this game. But it’s not enough, and that’s now losses to Denver and Memphis inside of a week. They need better late-game execution and better consistency in their sets. They have some things to work on.”
Berry Tramel on OKC’s outside shooting: “The Thunder has slumped. You can blame a lot of things. Lack of defensive focus (Denver, first half). Lack of ball movement (Denver, second half). Tenacious defense (Memphis, 53 minutes). Poor personnel decisions (Derek Fisher keeps playing double-digit minutes despite obviously being overmatched). I don’t claim to know the cause. But I do know the result. The Thunder is not making 3-pointers anywhere close to the rate it did earlier in the season. In its last three games, the Thunder is 11 of 64 from beyond the arc: 2-of-18 in a loss to Memphis on Wednesday night, 4-of-25 in a loss to Denver on Tuesday night, 5-of-21 in a win at Dallas on Sunday night. In its last three losses, the Thunder is 12-of-60 on 3-pointers: Memphis, Denver and 6-of-17 at San Antonio, which actually is acceptable.”
Does the league still care about flopping?
From Elias: “Marc Gasol tapped in the winning basket with less than a second left in overtime to lead the Grizzlies to a win over the Thunder on Wednesday night. It marked the first time that Gasol made a go-ahead field-goal with less than 30 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter or overtime in his career.”
Darnell Mayberry: “This could totally be a reactionary question. I’m willing to admit that. But what is the Thunder’s identity? Does this team have one? We know it has two all-league players in Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook and wins a lot of games. But what exactly is this team’s hallmark beyond that? Defense? We’ve seen enough this season to know that’s closer to a dream than a reality. Offense? Then why such struggles when it matters most? Teamwork? That’s laughable. Inside? Outside? What is it? I can’t really tell you at the moment. But, hey, all these regular season wins sure look nice.”
3 Shades of Blue: “Imma let Russell Westbrook finish, but he’s gotta know that Marc Gasol and the Grizzlies were just the better team this night. He should have been tossed after trying to shoulder-roll Gasol after his tech early on, and I’d like to thank Russell Westbrook for going 7-25 and 0-6 from three. Punkish behavior for sure.”
Tom Ziller of SB Nation on age vs. quality: “The Thunder have for three years been an anomaly: one of the best teams in the league, and one of the youngest. Oklahoma City is slowly getting older — Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka have not frozen time, and the James Harden-Kevin Martin swap added a couple years on the sixth man spot. But the team is elite and still younger than average. And this is the Thunder’s third year in the elite ranks. The championship window is absurdly wide open.”

Thabeet average gamescore/36 minutes is 7.04. From January 31-February 24th, he got no less than 9.7 minutes in any game and his gamescore/36 minutes was 9.9. He was playing great. And Scott Brooks rewarded him by taking his minutes away and giving them to Fisher. Since Feb 24th, Thabeet has gotten at least 9.7 minutes in only 2 out of 7 games. And you might argue that that is because he started playing worse but you'd be wrong. During that stretch, his gamescore/36 minutes is above 10.0. For reference, Perkins gamescore/36 for the season is 6.04
@FF_pickups thabeet has been hurt to
@FF_pickups
ive been wondering where thabeet was at aswell. ive also been wondering how tabo rides the bench in late quarters when the game is in question our lead. he is a best defender and he on the bench ya that makes since.
In terms of the upcoming draft, this is how I see it:
1. We have no need for any project guards (as long as we have jackson and lamb), so I'm not even going to mention them.
2. Our only real need is a center that can take over for perk after next year.
3. While there are a number of centers in the draft this year, many of them are PF's pretending to be centers (olynyk, zeller, austin), that it wouldn't make sense for us to pickup as long as we have nick/serge.
4. Noel is out of our reach, and I personally think he's going to be worse defensively than people think, and a real dud offensively in the NBA.
5. Len is neither an instinctive player, nor is he athletically impressive. He's going to disappear on the next level.
6. Rudy Gobert has Javale-esque athleticism, but has knees that aren't structurally going to hold up to that play style. He'll be out of the league within 2 years (feel free to quote me on that).
7. Plumlee is 23, you know what you're getting there, and what you're getting there is a career backup.
8. One of two people that intrigues me is Willie Cauley-Stein. He's young (19), he's a late-bloomer, he's underrated because he was noel's backup. Also he was a wideout in high school (so you know he has hands), and will be the fastest 7-footer in the league. Seriously, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N84mTJKvWz8
9. The other guy I like is Lucas Nogueira. He's skinny as hell, but in a way that makes him look like a taller high-school KD. Compare HS KD's athleticism to now, and that alone is enough to take notice. Also, he has incredible defensive potential, but is a projected second rounder. He's the type of euro-stash that could make a gm look like a genius.
@Stephen Jackson is not about this spelling I'm starting to like Cauley-Stein more and more. Nogueira would definitely have to be a euro-stash or picked with the Bobcats pick. I would rather have Gorgui Dieng with one of those picks though. He'll be just as good as Perk defensively in a couple years.
@Dubyaexwhizey Hadn't looked at Dieng. He looks like a nice backup at the very least.
@Stephen Jackson is not about this spelling
Olynyk is definitely a center. He's a 7 footer.
@okcjim You mean like how dirk is a center?
@okcjim Really, nothing like dirk? You either don't understand how Dirk scored most of his points in the NBA, or don't understand how playing against larger, more athletic opponents is going to affect Olynyk's game.
@Stephen Jackson is not about this spellingHe's nothing like Dirk. Dirk is a perimeter player. More like Mark Gasol is a center.
As much as I get frustrated with Brooks for playing Fisher at all or Perk against teams that he matches up badly against, I will say this: he is much better at his job than Jim Traber is at his.
It is good to hear Traber calling Brooks out about Fisher on the radio. Fisher is 0-13 against Denver twice, Spurs and Memphis in 39 minutes for 1 point. No telling how many points he's given up in those 39 minutes. I know it's been a bunch.
@okcjim We lost in overtime. Anyone who thinks Fisher didn't cost us one single point last night is fooling themselves. Fisher absolutely cost us this game and by proxy, Brooks cost us the game last night.
I can't stand how Tramel talks about the Thunder as a singular entity. Nobody says "The Lakers is playing way worse than they actually is." The team known as the Oklahoma City Thunder is plural: "The Thunder ARE going to the Finals..." etc. It's like deer, fish, bison, and so on. Get it right!
@Dubyaexwhizey Thunder is singular. Lakers is plural. The Thunder IS going to the Finals, etc. Deer, fish, and bison are singular and plural both. They can refer to one animal or an entire group. Thunder isn't like that. It's a singular name the refers to a group. Like "team." You don't say "the team are good." Not unless you're a grade school drop-out anyway.
Thunder is. Not Thunder are.
@Todd731 @Dubyaexwhizey The plural of thunder is thunder, just as the plural of heat is heat. When you're speaking of "Thunder" in the context of the NBA team, they are recognized in the plural form. Your comparison to "team" is not valid, as "team" has a separate plural form (teams).
That "I'm gonna let (insert name here) finish but...." thing got played out 3 years ago. Come on now. Like the Grizz don't do "punkish" stuff too. Lol
JIm Traber says that Thunder should bench D-Fish
@tydude TempBoy Brandon says that even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. Especially if that nut is as obvious as benching Derek Fisher.
@TempBoy Brandon @tydude Don't insult the squirrels by comparing them to Traber, please.
@tydude well i guess brooks and fisher are the only ones who dont want to do that
whoever wrote 3 shades of blue needs to take lessons from royce
@THUNDER FOR THE WIN There's a reason why a Royce article has hundreds to thousands of comments and the 3 shades of blue linked article has a whopping 3 total comments.
@FF_pickups @THUNDER FOR THE WIN
I'll admit, Even though sometimes i disagree with what Royce writes, and sometimes just knock off an article all together, and skip straight to commenting, he does have some of the better work. Some of these writers surprise me with how boring, misinformed, and poorly formatted their articles can be. I'm a amateur who makes his wanna be blog post from a phone, and my work looks better then theirs sometimes. F.Y.I. I'm terrible lol. That's not saying much for these dudes who have jobs as Journalist.
@ElMexiThunder @FF_pickups @THUNDER FOR THE WIN Well, having a sports blog doesn't automatically qualify them as journalists. It just means they have a sports blog. Royce is different, and could qualify as a journalist, in my opinion. Even if he gets the whole Thunder is/are wrong. ;)
@Crownme are you going to the Wizards game next week?
Damn, i'm just gonna get drunk as f*ck and play Call of Duty... Later guys lol
@thelaughingwiseman the life of a college dude...
Steven Adams is so monstrous on the glass it almost makes you forget how awful he is on offense

@KCScuba @ThunderChick2010 @AIaska is this internet flerting with a bunch of men and women
@ThunderChick2010 @AIaska It's not for everyone, but if you want to get into the field of writing and also like to feed your family, you could do worse.
@KCScuba @AIaska
That seems to me to be in the made-up word family as "strategery". :)
Btw, I worked as a technical writer several years ago . . . in a previous life.
@KCScuba @ThunderChick2010 @AIaska Liked for "snarkery."
@ThunderChick2010 @AIaska I don't create my own shot, I have to be assisted by a post that lends itself to snarkery (new word).
@AIaska @KCScuba
So . . . you're not too conceited to concede that you were mistaken. :)
@SoonerSpens @KCScuba @AIaska
TC has her ways. :)
@KCScuba @AIaska
If pointing out grammar and usage errors could earn you lots of points, this place (or almost anyplace on the internet) could be a goldmine. :)
@ThunderChick2010 @KCScuba @AIaska How do you know he's fully dressed? Stalker.
@KCScuba @ThunderChick2010 I usually pride myself on my internet grammar. I'm gonna lay low for awhile now.......

@ThunderChick2010 @AIaska I'm a technical writer. Just using my skills to troll for a few likes in between document reviews. :)

At least he didn't say "a English major" . . . :)
It's okay, Alaska. We know you're doing well just to get fully dressed each day. :)
