Who’s interested in listening to Bill Simmons crush the Thunder for the James Harden trade for 22 minutes? Anyone?
In their season preview video series, Simmons and Jalen Rose tackle the Thunder today, who they have ranked sixth in the league. As you might imagine, a lot of it is focused around the Harden trade, and if the Thunder’s window is closing.
“I think what they did is a disservice to their fans, and a disservice to Durant and Westbrook,” Simmons says.
Simmons talks about how teams have never won titles without paying the tax, and while true, that’s misleading because this is a new tax. And you’re already seeing teams — good teams, wealthy teams — run away from that threshold. Like the Heat amnestying Mike Miller. But this has all been covered to death. If you’ve followed the Harden trade, you know the details, you know the reasons, you have your opinion made already and it’s not changing.
Simmons also asked this question though: “Why didn’t they just amnesty Kendrick Perkins?” Sigh. So many sighs.
