It was a very good week for basketball in the OKC. The Thunder were at home and won all three games. I’m sure there were some really good basketball-y type things that happened in those games but I was distracted during most of them.
I went to the Nuggets game on Monday with a friend and for most of the game we talked about how we were making the right adult decision by missing Justin Timberlake on Thursday and using the money on other things. Then on Thursday I was busy getting things ready for Royce to leave and also regretting my adult decision about missing JT. (There were tears.) And while I watched (most of) last night’s game it was a bit dull and okay I may have taken a nap during the third quarter. Regardless, here are this week’s Power Rankings.
1. Kevin Durant (last week: 2)
When you’re the reason Jay and Bey come to The Peake, you’re number one. Duh. Other than that, KD had a pretty great week. First of all, he posted a totes adorable pic of him and his mom (Know Yourself, y’all) on Instagram to start the week. He followed that up with a pic of himself (but not a selfie) standing in front of his restaurant that is not open yet and then a pic of a watch. He capped off the week with a pregame pic of himself in the bathroom. I sure hope that’s not his shower though considering it’s about 3 feet too low.
Oh, KD also remained good at basketball averaging 28 points and seven rebounds.
2. Russell Westbrook (last week: 3)
Even though Russ didn’t play in Sunday’s game against the Jazz, he posted this photo earlier in the week and immediately competed for the top spot. He was in the lead until Blue Ivy’s parents showed up and stole the show.
3. Kendrick Perkins (last week: 12)
4. Steven Adams (last week: 7)
I am married to a man that thinks missed high fives are easily the funniest thing, like, ever. Royce laughs out loud every single time he sees this. No really, I mean every single time. So I knew he would go crazy when he saw Lord Byron leave The Funaki hanging. And he did. When he left early Friday morning he said he had all the important things pulled up in different tabs on the computer. One of them was that missed high five.
5. Serge Ibaka (last week: 1)
6. Reggie Jackson (last week: 4)
He’s good at basketball but he stinks at social media. However, weren’t you all just so super proud of him for how good he did starting in place of Russ (again)? I mean really, he’s just so poised.
7. Nick Collison (last week: 5)
Am I really putting Nick Collison as low as 7? Yes. Don’t tell Royce.
8. Thabo Sefolosha (last week: 8)
I can’t be the only one that wants to say, “It’s pronounced ‘Sef-o-LO-sha’ not ‘Sef-o-l0-SHA!‘” every time I hear Thabo’s name, right? Has this joke already been made?
9. Ryan Gomes (last week: 14)
Dear Ryan, Thank you for your efforts re: attire to the games. I spent way too many nights last year staring at Daniel Orton’s plaid jacket over and over and over, game after game after game. You’ve done a really good job this season. I especially liked your blue ensemble in Wednesday’s game. Love, Keri
10. HASHEEM THABEET (LAST WEEK: 13)
I’M REALLY SORRY YOU AREN’T PLAYING MUCH THIS YEAR. IT WAS REALLY COOL THAT YOU DID SOME TRIVIA ON TWITTER THIS WEEK , THOUGH. I, OF COURSE, LOVED THE QUESTION ABOUT OKLAHOMA. WAY TO KEEP IT LOCAL, HASH. OH AND THANKS FOR INFORMING ME THERE IS A SWAHILI FASHION WEEK. LET’S LIKE, GO TOGETHER NEXT YEAR.
11. Perry Jones III (last week: 9)
I continue to know nothing about this person. Sorry I’m not sorry.
12. Andre Roberson (last week: 11)
Did he play last week? I have no idea.
13. Derek Fisher (last week: 10)
You were good this week (I guess). But I’m sorry to say, we still have a Derek Fisher swear jar in our house so I can’t comment any further.
14. Jeremy Lamb (last week: 6)
His eyes. They’re always watching.
