Dwyane Wade to have knee surgery, will miss Olympics

by Royce Young on June 28, 2012 at 3:06 pm 14 Comments

Via the AP:

Dwyane Wade needs surgery on his left knee and will miss the London Olympics.

The Miami Heat guard called USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo and coach Mike Krzyzewski on Thursday and let them know that he is not healthy enough to participate in the Olympics. Wade was playing through pain for much of the postseason, yet still averaged 22.6 points during Miami’s five-game win over Oklahoma City in the NBA Finals.

Wade tells The Associated Press that the situation is disappointing. Wade and his doctors are in the process of scheduling the surgery.

What this means is that James Harden now has a very, very good chance to join Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook in London. Which would be pretty cool. And good for him.

So if this happens with our big three, instead of calling it team USA can we call it US Thunder? :)

Also Harden is going nowhere. thats just silly. why do you think we made the draft pick we did? Ibaka may be on the block instead.

It would be really awesome for our big 3 to get a Gold medal together, and Serge to have a silver most likely with Spain.

Now how will he get paid?

How awkward would it be if James got traded, and then played with Russ and KD in the Olympics?

 @Tronchaser Probably about as awkward as hanging out with my ex-girlfriend.

 @Tronchaser It would be the last time they play together for a long time... :( (until the next All Star Game most likely)

 ....if James made the All Star Game...not a lot of good things waiting for him on the Bobcats...

Anyone else not feel bad for Wade?

 @loplopol

Wade has passed Kobe on the 'least likeable superstars' list and at this rate, he's got a real shot at Metta World DBag.

 @dollarbillrussell If Stephen A. Smith says is it must be true. I must be a dirtbag in comparison

 @f5alcon You guys are wrong. Stephen A. Smith called him the best person he's even known in the history of human civilization.
