In the first returns of All-Star voting, Kevin Durant has the third-most votes overall with 605,965, behind LeBron James (641,348) and Kobe Bryant (639,419).
If the voting ended today — which it doesn’t — your Western starters would be Chris Paul, Kobe, KD, Blake Griffin and Dwight Howard.
East starters: Rajon Rondo, Dwyane Wade, LeBron, Carmelo Anthony and Kevin Garnett.
KD has been named a Western starter the last two seasons, and an All-Star the last three. He was named All-Star Game MVP last season in Orlando. Westbrook was named to his second All-Star team last season.
This season saw a change in the ballot as the center position has been eliminated with just “backcourt” and “frontcourt” players being the option. Meaning KD is technically the same position as Dwight Howard.
Russell Westbrook is fifth (143,437) among Western backcourt players behind Kobe, CP3 (353,603), Jeremy Lin (298,319) and James Harden (196,108). So among just point guards, Westbrook is currently third in voting.
Serge Ibaka (68,285) is currently ninth among Western frontcourt players.

I know the period for timely comment has long since passed, but I just wanted to go on record as saying WTF?!?!!?!?
How does Andrew Bynum have so many votes?????

This was on a billboard outside the arena last night. I've never seen it since they tore down the highway.
Darnell is so dang, shit i aint tryna get flagged but you know what i want to say.
@Lost Ones I thought Byron Mullens was black for the longest time and still think there may be a family secret there somewhere
@Lost Ones Probably hater related
Should I vote for Lord Byron because he's white? No, I vote for because he's AWESOME!
There are better white players than Mullens though, like Jason Kidd.
@justin_mia He got one drop....
Jason Kidd is black LOL
@RRRWHATEVER @<--Not About Dat Lyfe @justin_mia Dirk is officially black now. He went back to the motherland and got married. That's real.
@<--Not About Dat Lyfe @justin_mia yea, Jason Kidd is black... i mean, have you heard him talk? lol although being in the nba rubs off on you. dirk and yao sounded straight hood international... but on the real tho i dont even think kidd is bi racial, just light skinnded
@EatSleepThunder @<--Not About Dat Lyfe @justin_mia No...each tear is special. Hand crafted and packaged with an asterisk.
From the heart LOL
@<--Not About Dat Lyfe @justin_mia Do you have "LOOOL *TEARS*" on copy paste? It seems you use it every other post....
@justin_mia
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
*TEARS*
but he is!! LOL
@<--Not About Dat Lyfe Flagged.
Lin deserves it. With Yao retired he's the face of the Asian NBA fan demographic. This isn't the All NBA Team, it's the All STAR team, and there's no denying that Lin is a STAR.
your first sentence is baffling
@justin_mia B.... b... but he's shooting worse than westbrook
@justin_mia face of the nba? over rose kobe and lebron i doubt it.
@justin_mia he was a star. Linsanity is over
@RRRWHATEVER Typical USA slant. Linsanity is going strong in China which is one of the NBA's biggest International markets. It's the same with players like Eduardo Najera. Ever been to Mexico? He has his own line of shoes there. Nobody complained when Najera made the All Star team; maybe because of NAFTA?
@RRRWHATEVER From the USA fans' perspective, maybe. The Chinese fans probably feel the same way about us. They make all the basketballs for us, without them we wouldn't even be playing. I'm surprised Yi Jian Lian and Wang Zhi Zhi haven't made All Star teams either considering the leverage China factories hold over the NBA.
@justin_mia its not really fair to the rest of the league that all of houstons players have had their all star numbers go up since Yao came to the league. their whole team gets a boost. and you can argue well NYC and LA teams get a boost too yea I get it... but still... i care not for it
@justin_mia well let me retroactively complain about Najera too, although he was a good player.... Nothing wrong with having a usa slant. This is the nba, it takes place in America (With the exception of the Raptors) I can see why it makes sense from a business standpoint to let China vote, in an effort to expand the league globally, but from a fans perspective, to me its a joke. Don't like international voting. We let them vote more than their own damn country lol
@justin_mia
I dont think he is a star if he isnt getting first place votes. Thats what Yao got. People even in china can see the difference. He gets fanfarefor being an Asian i guess but even then its nothing compared to what Yao got.
At the Risk of getting Sullinger'd but ....damn you Red China for Jeremy Lin!
LOL at wade still getting votes, stern needs to throw this shit in the closes bushes.
I'm not a fan of baseball but I am finding myself gleeful about today's transactions. Ranger fans tend to annoy me...
@cemitten
i think ranger fans are happy Hamilton is gone too
@cemitten you must be a yankee
@cemitten You and D-MC just became mortal enemies.
JEREMY FREAKING LIN WITH 11 AND 6 A GAME SHOOTING LESS THAN 40% FROM THE FEILD IS THIRD IN ALL STAR VOTING!??!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!??!
NBA, please remove fan voting. In no way is Lin even an above average starting point guard.
Russ will be ahead of lin if lin doesn't beat cp3 anyway, my issue is how in the hell is harden ahead of RW.
@Lost Ones Badger is going to have a rage-filled second half if he doesn't make the squad.
Are people really surprised Lin is going to be ahead of Russ? I mean really'?
Yao got in one year without playing a single game.
@cemitten
Yao was 7'6" of hype. I mean that guy was hurt more than Jeremy Renner in a Kathryn Bigelow movie!
@FF_pickups @cemitten *snicker* I'm in directional drilling.
@cemitten
Yao Ming had more stess fractures than a horizontal well in Prague, Oklahoma!
@cemitten Not surprised but it's a mockery
@cemitten Don't confuse surprise and outrage. Two very different emotions.
What a joke that Jeremy Lin is ahead of Westbrook in the All Star Ballot. It's a disrespect to the fighting spirit that Russ shows night in and night out! Lin ain't no scrub because I'm allergic to scrubs but he can't ball the way that Russell Westbrook can ball. Show that man some respect!
@FF_pickups Stephen A?
@AIaska
As it pertains to the litany of Asians who lend themselves to being perceived as having less basketball perpetuity.
Cant believe Thunder fans want a loose canon like Cousins
@OkcBaby Nate Rob was a loose cannon, the Thunder kept him halfway under control. Think about all the rebounds he would get here....
@OkcBaby
This board wants half the league as long as they're not on the team currently.
"What, Mike Bibby is available? Lets sign him."
@anonymous12345 @OkcBaby
I agree. The only guys that I wanted that we could have had was MKG. And I stand by that!
@OkcBaby me. neither.
Just looking at stats... might as well say you want Metta World Peace.
