Thunder assistant coach Maurice Cheeks is in recovery after experiencing an unknown medical scare on Wednesday aboard a flight to Philadelphia. He remains at a hospital in the Philadelphia area and is “doing well” according to Erik Horne of the Daily Oklahoman. The news was first announced by Twitter user, @BobFromCement.
“The Thunder has been in contact with Cheeks and says he’s “doing well,” and is awaiting test results…. Cheeks was away from the team about a month last season after having hip surgery in February of 2016. Cheeks, 60, has been a Thunder assistant for six seasons.”
The story will develop as Cheeks receives test results. For now the incident is alarming, but appears to be moving in a positive direction. More to come.
Per the Thunder, Mo Cheeks has been released from the hospital.
