Oklahoma City’s summer league roster

by Royce Young on July 7, 2012 at 4:21 pm 124 Comments

Summer League begins in Orlando Monday for the Thunder. (Full schedule is here, with all games on NBATV.) Coaching Oklahoma City will be Mark Bryant, who has built a nice little reputation throughout the league for developing big men. Which is good, because the Thunder are going to be heavy in that department and in need for some of their bigs to develop.

From the actual roster, OKC’s sending Reggie Jackson, Cole Aldrich, Perry Jones III and Lazar Hayward. Other notables are 2010 second round pick Latavious Williams and 2010 second round pick Ryan Reid. Here’s the full team:

NO. PLAYERPOSFROMYEARS
45Cole Aldrich CKansas2
23Morris AlmondGRice2
31Kent BazemoreG/FOld Dominion R
12Dwight Buycks GMarquetteR
7Marquez HaynesGUT ArlingtonR
11Lazar HaywardFMarquette2
25John HollandGBoston UniversityR
15Reggie JacksonGBoston College1
3Perry Jones IIIF BaylorR
42James MaysFClemsonR
30Gary McGheeCPittR
33Ryan ReidFFlorida State1
22Garrett TempleGLSU2
21Latavious WilliamsFChristian Life Center HSR

Note: Hasheem Thabeet is not on the roster as he has not officially signed with the team. He has to be under contract to play with the Thunder, and that can’t happen until July 11. So there’s the potential he could join the team in Orlando for the last two days, but I wouldn’t count on it.

Dunno what we would do with Garrett Temple, but he did have a few quality + intriguing moments. Doesn't make sense with D Cook here, imo.Still hope Ivey stays with the team.

Will be interesting to see who shines. With a little more time under his belt now, you would think Cole should be fairly dominant. Really curious to see if Lazar, Williams or PJ3 can live up to their offensive potential, too.

@BRY BRY Lazar not so much.  Williams maybe.  PJ3 curious

People are chewing up Harden right now on the ESPN boards because he made the team.

@dailythunder One downside: Harden making Team USA certainly only bumps up that market value even more.

@Lost Ones  Wonder if that changes if he ends up playing a minimal role on the team? If on a team of max type players he ends up fading into the background it would seem there might be an argument that it would be proof he isn't worthy of a big contract.

Coach K has the opportunity to be the second US coach to win two gold medals at the Olympics. Henry Iba was the first.
