According to Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype, Paul George and Carmelo Anthony have begun recruiting Dwyane Wade to Oklahoma City. (How crazy is that sentence?) The news comes just hours after Wade reached a buyout agreement with the Chicago Bulls, making him an unrestricted free agent.
Carmelo Anthony and Paul George have already started recruiting Dwyane Wade to the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to sources.

The 35-year-old Wade is coming off a 2016-17 season that saw him put up averages of 18.3 points and 4.5 rebounds for the Bulls while appearing in 60 games. It’s believed his preferred destination is Cleveland for a reunion with LeBron James, but ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Miami, San Antonio, and yes, Oklahoma City, are all expected to make a push for the aging swingman’s services.
It’s unclear what role Wade would play on the new-look OKC roster, which may factor into his decision. Oklahoma City is also at a disadvantage financially, as the Thunder can only offer him $2.3 million for the 2017-18 season. Miami ($4.2 M), San Antonio ($3.3 M) and Cleveland ($2.5 M) are all capable of putting together a more lucrative offer for the 12-time All-Star, according to ESPN’s Bobby Marks.
While Wade-to-OKC may seem like a stretch, the addition of Carmelo Anthony makes it a reasonable conclusion to Sam Presti’s big summer. Cleveland is the early favorite, but it’s believed Wade could take his time in making a final decision.
More to come.
