According to multiple reports, LeBron James will win his third MVP award Saturday. Not a big shock by any means, but there was a glimmer of hope that Kevin Durant might sneak in and win it.
Durant will almost assuredly finish second in the voting, the second time he’s been runner-up to LeBron for the award. LeBron joins a group of only eight players all-time with three MVPs. None of those other seven have not won an NBA championship.

For a guy that won't take the big shot it's hard to believe he would be MVP. KD lives for the big shot. Head to head KD avged. 29 ppg compared to Labron's 20.5. rebounds KD 6.5 to James 5. Labron carried the assist with a total of 17 to Kevins's 11. OKC won 1 more game than the Heat. If KD was on the left or right coast he would have slammed dunked this award. Not to mention Durant doesn't know the word "quit". I can understand Labron leaving Cleveland but when he turned it in during the playoffs a couple of years ago one would wonder. Besides that they seem like two great kids! Three time scoring champ snubbed again. Thanks ago, more fuel for the fire in the playoffs.
@Bulldog83 You're crazy.
Thanks for the insightful rebuttal.
Lebron is creeping up on the All-Time greats, he'll probably finish with 6 or 7 MVPs. Heck, he should have 6 or 7 now, but the writers get tired of voting for the same guy year in and year out.
Don't worry; KD will end up with 3 or 4 himself.

KD never had a shot at MVP, with ESPN crowning all of the award winners by All Star Break!!!
@GAP Well, he was gaining ground in the week of awesomeness, and could have won had OKC not slid at the end of the season. But ya know, they did and stuff
everytime Lebron wins MVP he chokes in the Finals
durant will eventually win, less turnovers is the key
Jerry West is the only player I can find with two or more Top 2 MVP finishes in a three year span who never won an MVP award.
So Durant is probably going to win one, eventually.
Durant lost his shot to steal this award when he struggled against LeBron in Miami. A big game there from him + a stronger finish to the regular season may have overcome LeBron's statistical superiority.
LeBron's the best player of this generation. Depending on how his team accomplishments go, I think it will be fascinating how he compares to someone like Kobe Bryant in the future.
