Thabo Sefolosha will likely miss somewhere between 4-6 weeks with a calf injury, Sam Presti said Sunday before the Thunder’s game against the Bobcats.
Sefolosha injured the calf in the first quarter against the Grizzlies on Friday and had an MRI over the weekend to confirm the timetable.
At six weeks, Sefolosha would return right at the beginning of the postseason.
The present starter in Sefolosha’s place will be Perry Jones III, though Scott Brooks said the position will remain “fluid” over the next few weeks. With incoming Caron Butler who will join the team on Monday, there’s a chance he could assume the starting responsibilities.
The signing of Butler was made prior to Sefolosha’s injury, but it’s proven to been a bit serendipitous as the Thunder’s depth has now taken a hit.
Sefolosha joins Kendrick Perkins on the injury list, taking two starters away from the Thunder for the next few weeks leading into the postseason.
