If you’re like me, you had two movies on your cant-wait list for the summer — “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Thunderstruck.” (OK fine, and “Magic Mike” too.) There’s already been a few short trailers out (that were called “official” but whatever), but now here’s the “official” two-minute look at Kevin Durant’s movie.
Oh boy.
It opens Aug. 24.
@SoCal Thunder if you are under 10 maybe it will interest. don't see why anyone over 10 would watch it.

You might be . . . around here. I'm sure the movie has some positive, kid-friendly, KD-ish message and it features our own team and city. We're not expecting cinematic greatness, but what's not to love here?
@SoCal Thunder Just a fun basketball movie for the kids that's more than likely going to have a life lesson at the end of it. It's just this generation's Space Jam/Like Mike. Lol
@novelisticbee0 I feel bad for the kids that have to grow up with this rather than Space Jam haha. I want to watch Space Jam now.

@SoCal Thunder There are a lot of things this generation is growing up with that make me feel bad for them. Lol At least KD's is something positive. I do too. Space Jam is still one of my favorite 90s movies.

Ou_sas, you're pretty good at directing traffic between threads--and it seems we have a split going on tonight. It probably makes more sense to stay here if we're talking movies, but guess it doesn't really matter. You should call it!

@ThunderChick2010 @OBoymuzik Gone to bed for the night. Though my wife and I have discovered that he has her sensitivity to heat, so we've had to put the fans on high all over the apartment to help keep him cool.

Apparently the scene in the practice gym took over 100 takes, the director kept stressing for KD to miss a couple shots but he made close to 300 3pointers in a row.
Anybody following these wildfires? I just heard they're asking people to evacuate in the Ninnekah - Alex areas. That's getting a little close for comfort!

@OBoymuzik Assuming we buy KD being Superman for the Thunder, then to fill out the rest of the team, I'd probably start with either Green Arrow or the John Stewart Green Lantern for Harden ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stewart_(comics) ).

@jdstorm @OBoymuzik I think a lot of the problem comes with the fact that most DC characters are from the Golden age, whereas the Marvel superheroes almost all are from the Silver age. As such, there's a slightly more evolved sense of balance between all of the different groups, especially since it's the same writer-penciler duo working on all of the different marvel series, rather than a whole group of different people responsible for the core DC heroes.

@ou_sas @OBoymuzik The problem i have is that there are only so many character Archetypes. With marvel most of the characters feel unique enough, and they generally reside in different circles. With DC because most new heroes are some old heroes protégée it feels tired.

@jdstorm @OBoymuzik Yeah, at least if you stick with their mainline heroes. I suppose if you go with Teen Titans or something (tone down the epic-ness of their main JLA crew), you might have a better selection. But Marvel's milieu is much more varied.

@jdstorm @OBoymuzik Yeah, I know. I just feel uncomfortable giving the Dark Knight to Russ if you're not going to give KD someone equally potent - who in this case to me is Superman. *shrug* Marvel has far more known superheroes to work with of similar power levels that you don't run into that problem.

@OBoymuzik Hmmm... If you're talking Marvel, I'd probably go with Russ being Wolverine (It really brings out the Honey Badger/BLD side of him). I've always favored Harden as Stephen Strange.

@jdstorm @OBoymuzik That's true, I guess. As I said, it's not a bad idea, as everyone describes KD's arms as "Go-go-gadget" or "Stretch Armstrong" already, so I totally got where you were coming from.

@ou_sas @OBoymuzik I think KD is Reid Richards because, everyone here thinks he's Mr Fantastic and He's super long and stretchy. Also for a super smart guy Ried makes a lot of dumb decisions. Reid Richards would totally help off corner 3pt shooters

@jdstorm @OBoymuzik That's not bad, though you could also pitch him as Captain America on the basis of his "clean, wholesome guy who also happens to kick copious amounts of butt" persona that he's cultivated. I'm a little against Reid for KD, just on the basis that I'm not convinced that he has one of the highest BBIQs in the league (which Richards arguably does in the Marvel Universe).
