The NBA has a rule that limits the number of Nationally Televised" games each team can have at 25. I understand that. The NBA owns NBATV and we have 5 games on NBATV slated to be nationally televised. This brings our total to 30. I don't understand that. So there's a rule preventing something but we are going to ignore said rule because we can. Sounds about right.
@Jameswade99 The rule exists to prevent the national contracted broadcasters from ignoring half the league (every owner wants as much exposure as possible). If ESPN/ABC and TNT had their way, the national schedule would be a lot more top heavy in terms of quality of play and market size. Even though some teams are still left out, it's not as bad as it could be.
The NBA doesn't care when it comes to the network they own though. The more Thunder or Heat or Lakers or Bulls or Mavs or Knicks games they put on NBATV, the more money they make without the middleman.
Fans get Harden's face tattooed on his arm

@DennisBerry Nice ink work, but what an unfortunate tattoo in an unfortunate place.
How is there only 1 daily flight from NYC to OKC? And newark at that...
@persiansooner13 Should be more. You got JFK and LGA too, and even HPN which is White Plains is only 25 minutes North. You can catch a bus or a train right into the heart of NYC from there for like 5 bucks.
@DennisBerry naw man i mean the whole city, jfk/lga/nwk, there is 1 direct flight. At least for the day im looking. and its $700
@persiansooner13 better priceline name your own that and get it for like 250.
@persiansooner13 yeah i used to do that flight in college, newark isnt that bad to fly into though, can easily take the train to penn station
@persiansooner13 I'm sort of surprised you can even get a direct flight.
Last 12 games look pretty easy from here. Probably will be different once the season stars.
Eight straight games against 2012 playoff teams before it, then Charlotte before that, then 5 more playoff team games before that.
@Jooseppi You know its a slow day when Jooseppi had to respond to himself. He NEVER does that...
@ElMexiThunder Ever,
@ElMexiThunder Never.
I, personally, can't wait to hear about the Thunder v. Rockets games. Too bad I won't be able to watch those games live. -__-
@novelisticbee0 League Pass is worth it for many. Might be for you. Believe it was $170 this past season. Not sure if broadband-only is cheaper.
@Jooseppi I would totally buy league pass broadband if they didn't blackout the games in Oklahoma. I guess it'll be another year of pirated streams for me.
@Jooseppi Lack of an actual income is my downfall at the moment.
@Jooseppi @novelisticbee0 I had league pass for the 10-11 season, but decided to "boycott" it last year. I actually made out pretty well just watching pirated feeds and may do it again this year.
@JimboSlice @novelisticbee0 I did not buy it last season, but my reasons were more logistical (moved twice). The streams worked well enough for me.
Not to continue beating a dead horse, but i missed out on a'lot of the fun talk last week. Just wanted to say my favorite movie the watch over and over is the original Godfather.
@El Mexi..The Godfather is in my top five somewhere..I think. Great movie. However, I believe it is in Godfather II when Michael has Fredo put away for good. That may very well be my favorite scene in the whole Godfather series. If Pochino hadn't played the part of Michael..who would have been Michael? Robert Duvall is one of my favorite actors of all time. Did you ever see Tender Mercies, The Great Santani, or Second Hand Lions?
As an out of towner, I'm a little disappointed in the number of quality weekend games at home. I guess I'll have to make it a 4 day weekend to catch a TNT game
@anonymous12345 I agree, some crapass Saturday games.
no more need to count on our fingers

@cleandoe Trammel and his incessant desire to call them the "boomers." I mean I call the Oklahoman "bird cage liner" but I wouldn't say that in a piece for publication.
Here's a pretty cool Thunder shirt I just found and might buy. 35% off through the weekend with the code "Olympics" too

ESPN had a typo with the national tv schedule
@tydude what was it?
@cleandoe @tydude Now I see where Royce and I got 25 from. ESPN had that 25 nationally televised games on the schedule, when really there were 30. They fixed it now.
At least Stern is taking care of us with 15 back to backs. I think I saw that Boston has like 22 or 23 back to backs.
miami has a fucking CAKE WALK at the end of the year. out of 12 games they play 2 in the west. rest are east coast. wtf man im talking about their march schedule. shesh. easy peasy~
and now its not loading up the full schedules. guess they are updating it as we speak.
As far as National TV spots (TNT, ESPN, and ABC): what's the team-by-team count?
Imagine Heat lead the way. Are Thunder #2?
@D@nny According to ESPN
OKC- 25
Boston- 21
Chicago- 23
Dallas- 23
LAC- 29
LAL- 25
Heat- 27
Spurs- 24
Knicks- 23
I think I got all the big teams
@EatSleepThunder @D@nny @nny If that's the case, then it's probably a combination of big markets and actual talent to determine all of those games.
@D@nny those are just me counting, so they may be wrong
@EatSleepThunder @tydude @D@nny @nny you probably just copied it from royce and didnt bother to check it. he, as ou_sas and i, wouldnt count nbatv as a national game
@tydude @cleandoe @D@nny @nny Ok, yeah I can't count anymore, I have no idea where I got 25 from...
@EatSleepThunder @cleandoe @D@nny @nny we have 10 on TNT 10 on ESPN 5 NBA TV and 5 on ABC that is 30 total
@cleandoe @D@nny @nny I did include nbatv and i may have included a tv or two by accident...
@EatSleepThunder @D@nny @nny
are you including 'tv' and 'nbatv' in your figures?
i counted miami to 21 national tv games. double checked it
#confused
@cleandoe They play in the East. Easily explained.
@ou_sas @cleandoe thunder does count those as National TV games
@tydude @cleandoe I wouldn't count NBAtv games as national games. :/
@ou_sas @cleandoe Miami has 31 National TV games we have 30
Ruck the Fest of the league!!!!
@OBoymuzik Oh, they'll get rucked alright...Go Thundaz!
