Thunder to wear alternate uniform this season

The Thunder will finally be wearing a third jersey this season.

During his preseason press conference, Sam Presti said the team will be adding an additional uniform set.

“We’re really excited about it,” Presti said. “We hope people like it. But the people wearing the uniform have to do the job.”

The league has certain stipulations and regulations a team has to meet before an alternate can be added. As Presti said, it’s not like the team’s “just now getting around to it.” The league determines whether or not a team has sufficiently established their brand and then the team can proceed.

As far as color, design or anything else, Presti wouldn’t give away a sneak peek. But he did say that Russell Westbrook didn’t have design input.

“He’s just eye-wear.”

I know they don't use the yellow hardly at all but I'm hoping that this alternate jersey uses yellow as the primary color. The brighter the better if you ask me.

@ATH He wasn't that good healthy. Given his playing style, it's going to be quite a feat if he can reach that level of play coming off of an injury.

Is this just the "winter" uniforms we saw earlier or something separate? I know they designed a "winter" set for every team that's mostly washed out and monochromatic versions of the normal unis.

@novelisticbee0 Could be, but I've noticed the NBA Store tends to stick logos on anything printable. Plus, the Blazers are the only team in the Northwest that doesn't have some form of blue road jersey. I'd just like to think the Thunder would go with something more distinctive.

@novelisticbee0 I wouldn't be surprised. NBA teams don't try anything shocking or unexpected usually, and I'm sure the NBA has paid closer attention as it's the Thunder's first alteration to its brand. Not saying it's bad, as I think a navy / white get-up would look good.

Washington's recent rebranding was very good though, and I enjoy that their unis are different.

I know a DTer did a mock up a long time ago that incorporated Thor's hammer... I wasn't fond of that particular design, but incorporating the hammer in some fashion would be pretty cool.

Maybe as the bottom icon on sides of the shorts?

I've always said it should essentially be a reverse of the Suns alts; storm cloud great with orange side panels, "OKC" and use the other colors for piping.

Admittedly I know (or care) little about the university feud in OK. I just think the Orange would stand out the best.

I like my Orange thunder shirt infinitely more than my grey Thunder U shirt.

There should be a uniform design contest. After seeing the Hornets Mardi Gras uni's last year, I'm pretty sure the league has no real uniform standards, so anything goes.

I fully expect 'OKC' lettering. Too many official colors to know what they've chosen. A navy home alternate would be fun, with white shoes/socks/accessories.
