Currently, the Thunder have no token Okie on the roster. Which is terrifying.
The team announced Thursday they’ve waived center Daniel Orton, an OKC native, to cut the roster down to 16 players. (Fifteen is the number allowed.)
The likely reason to waive Orton is to make room to sign another player — probably a point guard — as the Thunder currently have two training camp invites on the team. Or maybe it means the team likes Diante Garrett enough for him to stick.
Orton appeared in 13 games with the Thunder during the 2012-13 season, averaging 2.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in 8.0 minutes per contest.
