The trade deadline has come and gone, and the Thunder haven’t pulled the trigger on any move.
Armed with trade exceptions and picks, the Thunder flirted with Iman Shumpert, but were eventually rebuked on a deal that included a first round pick.
So what it means is the Eric Maynor $2.3 million trade exception will expire tomorrow and go unused. It also means that the Thunder will carry their existing 13-man roster into the postseason, with two available spots left open (there’s a chance of a late season signing, I suppose).
Thabo Sefolosha, an expiring deal, remains. Kendrick Perkins goes nowhere. And the Thunder’s hunt for perimeter shooting help comes up empty.
Not a very successful deadline for Thunder who outside of the Perk-Jeff Green deal have played things pretty safe, but really, the entire league went conservative today. The Thunder still have the league’s best roster top to bottom and while they missed an opportunity to potentially improve it, they’re absolutely equipped to compete regardless.
Because remember: They made the best move already today. They got Russell Westbrook back.
