In a report from ESPN’s Nick DePaula, Russell Westbrook has reportedly signed a 10-year contract extension with Jordan Brand. The financial details have yet to be released, but the deal is believed to be the most lucrative contract in Jordan history.
“Russell Westbrook, the NBA’s reigning Most Valuable Player, will look to continue to establish himself as one of the league’s top global superstars, inking a 10-year extension with Nike’s Jordan Brand that will be the most lucrative total endorsement deal for a Jordan athlete to date, according to industry sources.”
In addition to the lengthy contract and handsome sum of money, the deal also promises the following:
- On-court and off-court signature sneakers. Westbrook has yet to receive an on-court player exclusive from Jordan Brand, so this is a first.
- Jordan Brand will make annual donations to the “Why Not?” foundations in both Oklahoma City and Southern California
- Future appearance opportunities due to an “Ambassador Clause” that will continue post-retirement
While it may not be the extension fans are looking for, it’s quite an accomplishment for the Brodie. His on-court signature sneaker is being billed as “unlike anything that Jordan Brand has done before,” which is absolutely fitting given what the world has come to expect from his fashion sense.
