: “Morrow, who started just 10 games over the past two seasons, isn’t likely to replace Thabo Sefolosha as the starting shooting guard. But as the Thunder continues to look to surround its core players with complementary pieces, Morrow will step in as arguably the best pure shooter Oklahoma City has ever had.”

This story by Ric Bucher on Anthony Morrow from 2010 is interesting: “Morrow won’t ever be an All-Star. He’s worked hard at his defense and his ballhandling, but he’s below par for a starting swingman in almost every category outside of shooting. But no matter what happens, he’s already a wild success. So the next time you see a young man mopping the floors of an office or hauling garbage out of a corporate high-rise, keep in mind that you could be looking at someone who has a unique gift — and needs everything to break just right to show it.”

Per Marc Stein, Caron Butler is signing with the Pistons for $9 million over two years. The Thunder just added Anthony Morrow for a million less per year.

Pau Gasol is getting $22 million over three years from the Bulls.

Jenni Carlson: “Kevin Durant throws up the Hook ’Em Horns hand signal, and Oklahomans groan. He gets away with it because, hey, he’s Kevin Durant, but most Thunder fans would just as soon he knock it off. Plenty of them cheer for the Sooners or the Cowboys, too, and those Longhorns are no-good so-and-sos. But on the day that LeBron James announced he was going back to Cleveland, I have some advice for Thunder fans: embrace the fact that KD throws up the horns. The reason? It’s an indication that Durant is a loyal dude.”

Jeremy Woo of SI.com: “After adding sharpshooter Anthony Morrow this week, the Oklahoma City Thunder continue to search for pieces to support Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. First-rounder Mitch McGary reportedly looked healthy and a series of encouraging performances was highlighted by an 18-point, 13-rebound line against the Nets. The Thunder will hope McGary can fill a garbage-man type supporting role as they mount another playoff push. However, Jeremy Lamb didn’t quite show the progression they might have liked — although he led the team in scoring posted a 26-point game against Brooklyn, it took him 21 shots to get there and Lamb greatly struggled from three-point range throughout the week (making just 4 of 23). Right now, the Morrow move looks prudent.”
