Report: Thunder acquire Dion Waiters in three-team deal

You’ve been wanting wing offense, yes? Well, here’s some, and it’s in the form of the gunning and chucking Dion Waiters.

According to multiple reports, the Thunder will acquire Waiters from the Cavs in a three-team deal, sending Lance Thomas to the Knicks and a heavily protected future first rounder to the Cavs.

The entire deal lines up as the Thunder getting Waiters, the Knicks getting Lou Amundson, Chris Kirk and OKC’s second rounder, and the Cavs getting Iman Shumpert and J.R. Smith.

(The protections, per Brian Windhorst: top 18 protected this year, top 15 protected in 2016 and 2017 then becomes two second round picks.)

The Thunder will acquire Waiters via their Traded Player Exception created in signing and trading Thabo Sefolosha to the Hawks during free agency.

Early reports had the Thunder trading Reggie Jackson, but I can confirm the only player being trade from OKC is Thomas.

More coming soon. But hey, a trade happened! Fun!
