I wrote some thoughts on what’s wrong with the Thunder’s crunchtime offense here. The cliff notes: Kevin Durant would sure help a whole lot.

It’s really ground-breaking, thought-provoking, provocative stuff.

Of the Thunder’s 17 losses, a good number have been games that could’ve been won with some better late game execution. Some were because of shoddy defense, but a lot of it was because of crunchtime failings. To wit: The Thunder rank 27th in the league in offensive efficiency in “clutch time.”

Is this an irreversible trend? Is this because of Scott Brooks’ bad scheme? Is this all Russell Westbrook’s fault? No, no, and no. The Thunder just need Thirty-Five back.

And then they can start thinking about getting better in crunchtime.
