Brandon Rahbar recaps OKC’s disappointing loss at home to the Memphis Grizzlies.
Maddie Lee (The Oklahoman) with five takeaways from last night’s defeat. “The Thunder lost 110-97 against the Grizzlies Thursday, following a similar script to the last time these two teams played each other. About a week ago, the Thunder pulled off a comeback but acknowledged that erasing 20-plus deficits wasn’t sustainable. Thursday’s game proved that point.”
Notwithstanding the result against the Grizz, Chris Paul isn’t surprised that the Thunder are in the playoff hunt, reports Joe Mussatto (The Oklahoman). “The Thunder point guard was asked if, at the beginning of the season, he envisioned his team being in this position. ‘Yup,’ said Paul, in a louder than usual voice. ‘I thought we’d actually have a better record. I don’t know who I said it to at some point, but I said, no offense, but as long as I’m on the court I feel like we’ve always got a chance. I don’t care what the team is, what it looks like, who it is or whatever.'”
CP3 continues to impress with his dress, and remains at no. 1 in The Athletic’s NBA Style Power Rankings. “We covered Paul’s generosity in the opener, which was obviously noteworthy, but the bespoke three-piece suit was not his only quality showing last week. Turtlenecks continue to dominate the season and Paul went back to the well in an aqua-blue neck hugger. Need we even mention how scrumptious the jacket of the same hue was? Superbly tailored gray slacks to boot?! The simple yet timeless Nike Tailwind 79 added to the breathlessness vibe of the entire ensemble. Chris Paul is putting together an MVP level season in personal style.
Danilo Gallinari’s left ankle soreness kept him out of last night’s game, and will keep him out the next two games as well:
Paul did a very cool thing before the game against the Grizzlies by giving away floor seats for the “dopest” Christmas photo:
One of Oklahoma’s biggest celebrities is also one of the Thunder’s biggest fans: Kristin Chenoweth. Chenoweth sat courtside and watched Oklahoma City drop a game to Memphis:
All-Star voting is now open, if you’re into that sort of thing:
In other NBA news: rumors are swirling that the Houston Rockets are open to trading Russell Westbrook.
