Friday Bolts – 6.7.13
Suns GM Ryan McDonough on Shabazz Muhammad: “He’s checked out very well … A lot of perception of Shabazz is unfair from the information I’ve gathered and we’ve gathered. I think he’s one of the hardest workers in the draft. The kid loves to play.”
Ben McLemore after working out with the Spurs: “Bring the ball up, control it, up-tempo, take control of the game. I could’ve done those things at Kansas, but that’s just how the Kansas system is. I was just playing Kansas basketball. Now, I have an opportunity to play free and play my own game. I know deep down inside I can take over games. I know I have that dog in me to take over games.”
This clip of Tony Parker coaching the Spurs is just great.
Nick Collison joined a podcast to talk NBA Finals and such.
Henry Abbott of TrueHoop: “Deputy commissioner Adam Silver outlined a vision of how things might work in the future: “If you have a group of officials in a broadcast center somewhere, location could almost be anywhere in this day of age of digital media, there wouldn’t be that delay which officials need to walk over, turn the monitor around, put the headphones on, call for the replays. You could have offsite officials looking at multiple monitors at once.” Why does this matter? Because this is how the game evolves to keep up with the world. Now that Silicon Valley means as much as Wall Street, and most fans have high-def instantly replay in their living rooms, the league appears ready to use high-quality, real-time replay in a way that will let the league base in-game decisions on the best possible insight, insight which is commonly available to fans.”
Interesting thing about official NBA basketballs and David Stern’s John Hancock.
LeBron says his biggest rival is… Paul Pierce.
Russell Westbrook is on the cover of SI For Kids and talks about his favorite summer things: “When I was younger, I was scared to get on roller coasters. I was 11 and realized I just didn’t like them. By the time I got to high school, I got over the fear. When Goliath opened at Six Flags, I faced my fear. Everyone else lined up to go on it, so I followed all the other kids because I didn’t want to be the only one left behind. The scary part about the roller coaster is the clicking noise when you’re going up. You just hear click, click, click, click, click. And then you’re just whipping around. Once it was over, I was like, that’s not too bad.”
Some kids made a parody of the Dwyane Wade/Kevin Durant Gatorade commercial.
